Felt very safe in the vibrant Brickell area. Metro mover and trolly hub a short walk away. Many restaurants close by. Hampton Inn was clean and well run. Even the air conditioner was quiet. Breakfast was excellent.

When we arrived, the registration person, with "Manager" on her badge, did not ask me for my Hilton Honors number. I saw that another white family was given a bag of drinks, which prompted me to tell the reservationist that I was a Hilton Honors member. Secondly, this same person did not ask us when we wanted our room cleaned, and we assumed it would be daily until the housekeeper informed us we were on the list for every other day. Additionally, my daughter went downstairs to get breakfast while I was getting ready for the day. She forgot the room key and asked for another key. The Hispanic person at the desk treated her as though she were a criminal and stated that she would need to call security and have them escort her to the room. She called me from her cell phone in tears as this had never happened to us. Usually the reservationist calls up to the room and gets permission, but this did not happen until several minutes later, when two Haitian reservationists finally called up to the room. By this time, I was furious and was not nice to them, which upset my daughter. I was unaware of the identity of the person who informed her that they needed to call security to escort her to the room; however, my daughter later informed me that it was a Hispanic woman wearing a trainee badge on her lapel. Finally, when I was checking out, a Black elderly reservationist from out of nowhere asked me if I had gotten the job that I came to Miami to interview for. We never spoke.

Check in process was an absolute nightmare. Had to wait almost 30 mins with no kind of apology from staff for the wait. When we passed by later that day the check in line had stretched to almost 15 people but this seems to be norm because they still only had 2 staff members working

Night before our Cruise

Wonderful hotel, very friendly staff, quick check-in and out. We hit breakfast at a super busy time so had to hunt to find a table. Decent variety of options: bagels, toast, croissants, make your own waffles, yogurt, eggs, potatoes, and sausage (no bacon). I would definitely recommend this hotel. Great location, felt safe to walk down the street. Publix and Walgreens are close by if you forgot anything. Plus public transportation a block away where you can ride the metro mover for free and can go to Bayside Marketplace. It is the perfect place to stay the night before a cruise. Shuttle service to the port can be arranged with the concierge $8-$10 per person
