Upon our arrival at 4:30, room wasn’t ready. The said it’s clean but they had to go inspect it. They went inspect it right away which is fine. But then we got to the room, they were hair on the toilet, missing bath robes and slippers… they brought it up when we called them which it was fine too. But then what really push over the limits, at 5am, the smoke detector were low battery so it was beeping very annoyingly and woke up everybody, had to figure out a way to climb up 10’ ceiling to remove it and shut it off. Then in the am we order breakfast, food, coffee everything came super cold. So anyways what supposed to be a restful get away, wasn’t so restful. The ask about our experience upon check out we told them everything.. this is not what I expected from a high end boutique hotel in a landmark building of downtown montreal. I get way better service at the more standard Marriott hotels, Sheraton etc that I usually book through bonvoy for work travel

Excellent property in a busy touristy area within walking distance to Old Montreal. Excellent amenities in the room and very helpful and knowledgeable front desk and bell staff. Didn’t know anything about the breakfast. Nobody told us. But the staff at the main bar and restaurant somehow got our order wrong a whopping three times during a two night stay! One was for a type of coffee, another time they gave us and charged for a dozen oysters when we ordered a half dozen, and a different type of champagne. The bartenders there are not good listeners I guess. But with no other options inside the hotel. Brings down the overall grade of the hotel.

This is not a 5 star hotel. Prices reflect that but staff and service needs much improvement. Was very much looking forward to our 3 night stay at birks hotel. Arrival was ok, got help with our luggage but no greeting. Reception and check in was terrible. Again no welcome greeting and I felt like I interacted with a machine instead of a person. Waited 4 hours for hangers and tissues. Restaurant was not impressive or welcoming. Took 4 tries for room service on December 24. They kept calling back saying items were not available….and could not tell me exactly what items were not available. A staff member finally delivered the limited menu and was very snotty about it. Not one of my 5 room services were accurate. Missing cutlery, one cup instead of two, missing milk for coffee as requested just a mess. Got the same robot for checkout on Christmas Day… not a word of greeting or mention of happy Christmas or similar just a statement “checking out?”. No ask if we enjoyed our stay nothing! As we waited for our car service we witnessed other guests expressing their dissatisfaction and understood when we got out the door without the help of a doorman- the sidewalk area needed to be shovelled and we had to drag our luggage through the snow. Not happy and won’t be returning. I left out several other examples but I think you get the idea. Location is great but this hotel is a 4 star at most and we are very disappointed with our stay.
