Close to 23rd, with fun restaurants, bars & shops.

Room was right off the highway (but not close enough that you can hear it). It was very easy to find. Parking was free. Check in was a breeze. Room was ready. Got settled in, found our king bed. Bathroom with toilet and shower, then a separate sink with coffee maker and blow drier. Then a comfortable bed facing a microwave and mini fridge (no minibar - which I liked) and TV. The picture on the TV was a little grainy, but eh, who cares. To the side there was a lounge recliner and desk. We ran both the Heater and A/c during our stay. The heater was really loud ( my one and only complaint), but the A/C was fine. Had a restful night sleep, then continental breakfast was simple, but adequate... scrambled eggs, sausages, fresh waffle maker, cereal, breads, scones, muffins, fresh fruit, coffee and a selection of tea (I did not eat all of this, just listing what was offered). Checkout was a breeze. We stayed 2 nights. Would stay here again.

Comfortable stay, easy commute to downtown

A friend and I took a spontaneous trip to Portland over the weekend and booked this place on a whim via the unpublished rates option. What a nice surprise! I have no complaints about this hotel. It was easy to find with lots of available (free!) parking space on site. The room was comfortable with a king sized bed, large flat screen TV, fridge, microwave, desk and armchair. The views from our third floor room were nothing spectacular (looking out onto industrial area), but nothing to complain about either. Hot continental breakfast was good, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel was very quiet with almost no traffic noise from the nearby freeway entrance, and we didn't hear anything from our neighbors either. We were within walking distance to lots of quaint coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques in the Nob Hill district, as well as both bus (around the corner) and streetcar (5 min walk) stops. During the day we walked to downtown, which took about 15-20 minutes. If you're looking for a place with a vibrant night life nearby, this isn't it, but if you're looking for quiet and comfort within easy transit distance to downtown, give this a go for sure. I would stay here again.

Convientant, with great staff.

Great value for the money. What seems like a little out of the downtown area, actually was quicker to get to and from different places due to having a freeway exit two blocks away.

I'd stay here again....

This is a comfy little hotel in a unique location. We love to shop and eat in NW Portland so this was exactly what we were looking for. The hotel is quiet, the rooms are comfortable, the staff is terrific, they have free off-street parking and serve breakfast. A great value!

Great base camp for walkers

We liked everything about the stay. Only very minor issues - no paper on Saturday, bedside lighting a bit dim for reading, and late start (7 am) for Saturday breakfast. Very convenient for walking the Nob Hill district.

Great Hotel

Stayed here on Christmas Eve and Enjoyed the Stay. The Hotel location is great, very clean, bed was comfortable, internet was fast, and breakfast was a better than most other 2 star hotels.

Great place at reasonable price

We had a very spacious room, with all the amenities one could ask for, including a little frig and microwave. Internet access was easy. The breakfast is very ample and well prepared. Very friendly staff. Plenty of off street parking. The location is on the edge of the NW shopping and dinning area, with some interesting shops and coffee/bakery places just a block away. A block in the other direction is the tasting room of Clear Creek Distillery, which make awesome brandies and liqueurs.

Portland gem.

We love this neighborhood, with dozens of interesting eating places, but still quiet. It is also so convenient to the trolley, so you can avoid the giant hassle of parking a car downtown. All around the best possible group of choices for convenience. The the management of the hotel is first class, too.

Walk south 2 blocks or farther on 23rd- it gets nicer, shop/restaurant-wise. Try Marrakesh Moroccan restaurant. It's a kind..area . Waffles for breakfast at the hotel.

Great neighborhood with a good selection of restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. Free fast Wifi and free parking, right by the freeway entrance so easy to get anywhere.

Pro: Room was clean, large, easy walk to our favorite shopping areas Con: beds are new and I would prefer a softer mattress heater on even when turned off so we turned the air conditioner on to cool down room. We reported heater when we left and they assured us it would be fixed. Noisy in hallway and room next door. Bring earplugs. In all we will book hotel again

Excellent location - easy on and off freeway. Great neighborhood to walk in with amazing small restaurants and shops. Free parking and WiFi in the room which is so much better than the downtown hotels. The streetcar line is very close by and convenent for going downtown.

No nickel and diming here--everything is included

Everything at the Silver Cloud was welcoming--free, hot breakfast with perfect scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt, muffins, etc. Free parking, free internet, reasonable rate, and friendly staff. Big flat-screen tv in the room. My only problem was that the bed was much too soft for me and my back. I would stay there again, but I might ask if they have rooms with firmer beds.

Overall a great hotel for the price and location. Within walking distance to bars, restaurants and boutiques. Quiet neighborhood. Excellent front desk staff. Only complaint is that the pictures of the hotel are rather deceiving in that it appears nicer than it really is. The room was spacious but the mattress was extremely thin and uncomfortable. Also, the light in our bathroom only worked intermittently.

a couple of days in paradise

Our stay couldn't have been nicer! The hotel was in a great location, on the "prom" but towards the end where you didn't feel like tons of people were going by your section of paradise. It was a nice stroll to the downtown area, or the hotel had complementary bikes for you to use. That was a fun afternoon for us, biking around and enjoying the area. There is a small kitchenette area in the room, which was nice. Bed was a little hard, but if thats the worst thing, its all good! I will be back!

Really nice

Was worried because this was a last minute pick, but couldn't be happier. Totally loved the neighborhood - would not have wanted to stay anywhere else. King beds are on the street side of the building, and even though I'm a super light sleeper it didn't bother us. Loved the decor. The staff was super nice, and the free breakfast was quite good. We will stay here again if we're ever back in Portland.

Great room for the money, had microwave and fridge in the room. Not fancy but very well kept up,updated and clean. Comfy bed and linens. Great and helpful staff. About 4 blocks from the Trolly, in a really nice neighborhood. The only downside (for me, probably not many others) was a less than excellent bath tub. Fine for showering, though. Would recommend this hotel to others.
