Great location for walking to different areas of San Francisco. We walked to Castro (about 2 miles) and took an Uber back to the hotel later as it started raining. We also walked to China Town area (less than 1 mile) the next day. We booked the deluxe for a few $$$ more and were pleased that the room size was comparable to a modern hotel room, but with historic charm. Would definitely stay here again. Staff were helpful and the restaurant on site offered a variety of delicious options.

For the price the hotel was adequate and the stay was fine but I wouldn't stay again. The hotel has a more dated feel than the pictures. The bathroom was tiny, the electrical outlet on the lamps on the desk and nightstand did not work. Also seeing a homeless woman urinating outside the hotel's door was a new experience. With that said the homeless situation is all over the city and unavoidable regardless of the hotel you choose.
