"Let me preface this review by saying I’ve stayed at the Chateau Laurier many times in the past and it has always been excellent. This time around, it was a bit uncomfortable. Check-in took unusually long, then the air conditioning and wifi in my suite was not working. When I attempted to reach out to staff to get both matters resolved — the phone calls went unanswered. Finally, I went down to the lobby to ask in person to get the wifi fixed, which was the priority. The concierge desk sat empty, so I waited. When the concierge finally showed up, he said he would get someone with IT to reach out to me. Nobody ever did. When I asked guest services for a fan for my room because the air conditioner was not working - nobody ever showed up to deliver it. I am hoping this stay was just an anomaly because I have had very positive experiences in years past. One more thing — when I respectfully shared this feedback as I was checking out, the staff member at checkout promised to waive the pet fee for the inconvenience, which I appreciated. I just received my receipt. The pet fee is was not waived. So the promise was made, but not kept. Pretty much sums things up."

"Very well located for Byward Market and walkable from O-train station which connects to Via station. Can easily walk to gallery, Rideau canal locks, Parliament. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable with fridge, safe, coffee maker, large TV. Staff helpful. We were at front of hotel on 5th floor and used ear plugs to block out road traffic until about midnight. (May be quieter higher up). Rooms at the back impacted by building works which we only heard once (starting 07.15 weekday). We had booked breakfast included and advised this included about $35 before taxes of food and drink from menu. Breakfast is cooked to order from a reasonable choice. Similarly coffee could be ordered as required. Breakfast room wasn't too busy so we were in and out at reasonable speed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of bars,restaurants and eateries all around. As in most big cities, quite a few folk "down and out" hang around the more vibrant areas like Byward but we only experienced begging requests and having to be careful not to trip over the odd sprawled sleeper/spaced out character whilst looking at other things. It clearly doesn't prevent thousands of people enjoying the area."

"This was a large one bedroom apartment that was very spacious and comfortable. It had everything we needed and was located very close to the Rideau Centre for supplies. Only complaint was that laundry detergent was not provided and that some of the appliances were old or not operating properly."
