The Metcalfe Hotel is a wonderful place to stay in central Ottawa. When I arrived at check in I was informed that there was a maintenance issue with my room and as a result they would be putting me in their neighbouring connected property in what I assume is meant for their short term vacation rentals. Because of the minor inconvenience the hotel compte my room for free, comped my valet for free including a full charge on my Tesla and also gave me a $50 dining credit to be used in their restaurant. The hotel went above and beyond giving me a free stay since my hotel room was not available and all other rooms were sold out. Highly recommend and I would definitely stay here again thanks to their generosity.

Everything about my stay was fantastic. The hotel is quaint with a modern vintage feel- lovely. The rooms are amazing and spacious- very welcoming staff. I wish I had stayed longer! I will be back .

The hotel was loud. I was unable to put my 8yr daughter to bed until after 10:30 at night. When I called for support, I was offered nothing. Then in the middle of the night there was a couple having a domestic dispute outside of the door. I actually took a recording of how loud the noise from the main floor and I was on the 4th floor.

Stayed for two nights at this supposedly 4-star hotel (It is not or should not be; better spend your money somewhere else!). It has 8 plus floors but only has 2 elevators for guests (seriously?!). One of them was already down when I checked in. The second one broke down when I checked out. There was no clear instructions on how to access the stairs and get to the lobby. Thanks to that, I had to drag all my stuff down the stairs directionless and missed my train. Imagine people with mobility issues having to do that. Staff offered no help. Complained to reception and the guy at the reception said “beyond my control.” Every sentence started with “unfortunately…” in a passive aggressive tone. Zero customer service skills. How can you run a hotel with no backup plans for elevators? If it was part of regular maintenance, no notices were given. This place is deeply disappointing. If you see this review, I suggest you NOT book it. There are plenty thoughtful and well-maintained hotels in Ottawa and trust me, this one absolutely does not deserve your money.

The hotels are lovely and the rooms are great. It was a good deal for the money spent. I am disappointed that I thought I was to have a $25 spend benefit towards breakfast or parking because I am Expedia gold, but nothing was offered, and I did not notice it till after we left.
