You get what you pay for

Pros: Only half a mile from Byward Market.
Cons: Strengthen the wireless connection and password protect the network. Get rid of the rugs to hopefully get rid of the musty smell. washcloths please!
When I booked this hotel thought it was the same hotel my husband and I had stayed in a year earlier. Sadly, it wasn't. I booked two rooms, check in time was 3pm and my friend and I arrived around 4:15. One of our rooms was not ready. The four of us went to the room that was ready to wait for their room to be cleaned. Upon entering room 241 we were assailed with a strong musty odor and a stifling warmth. We cranked the wall air conditioning unit and the temperature didn't drop the whole weekend. My friends ended up getting room 238, which appeared to have Ben remodeled as it had nice hardwood floors. Neither roo had hand towels or washcloths. We called housekeeping and they brought us another bath rug and bath towel. So, no washcloths all weekend. The wifi was free and NOT password protected. While in room 238 we had decent connection who wants to do anything on an unsecured network? Room 241 had crappy connection with frequent drops and staggeringly slow speeds when connected. I suspect the cleaning staff lived there and there were young children running, yelling up and down the halls. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms tiny but clean. I suspect the rug in my room was the source of the musty smell. The staff at the front desk was friendly. However the delay in getting both our rooms after a 4 hour drive, never getting washcloths and the poor, unsecure wifi made this a disappointing experience.

Good for a short stay

We spent one night here and that's about the limit. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very dated and in need of renos. Room appeared clean at first but we quickly started finding hair in the bath tub and giant dust bunnies under the bed. The toilet was broken but we managed to fix it. It was close to the Market and Parliment, which was what we wanted. They were nice enough to let us stay in the parking lot even after we checked out so we wouldn't have to pay the parking fees while sight seeing. It was ok for just that one night, but I wouldn't want to stay any longer than that.

Good Value

The outside was nothing special but once we got there we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and I was able to park close to my door. The staff were friendly and helpful, they suggested great places to take the kids. I was able to get my work done while my family played tourist. The breakfast was ok; we were able to walk to ""the Market"" for dinner. I only wish they had a pool. Overall our stay was a good mix of comfort and price for a family of 4. We'll be back here in winter to skate on the canal.

A dirty place

This place was disgusting, the bathroom was not clean, and there were faeces on the toilet seat and hairs in the towels. The bathroom was not big enough to swing a cat in, the overall room was small and the area of town it was in was bad. We had booked for 7 nights there but after one night in hell I was ringing every other hotel in Ottawa begging for a room. Eventually stayed at another hotel, which was the same price per room per night, was 100 times better and was clean.

The worst place in Ottawa

Pick any other motel or hotel in the area. This place was a dump. I should have stayed in the mission.

Better Than Ottawa's Best

Even though we stayed there one night, it was great. Family-style housing makes these stays worth while: extremely friendly, accomodating and helpful staff that tipped us off for great entertainment and clear directions. The rooms were nothing spiffy, but extremely worth the money and WONDERFUL location. Would absolutely stay there again.
