Pros: Close restaurants
The hotel is lovely...price for the room is a little much but i'm guessing it's to keep out the undesirables. Average size room which is fine for short stays. Nice toasty feeling. Close to restaurants and shopping. Just up the street are some amazing views of the city. Reminds me of London.

The room was fine except it was located on the 2nd floor and had no view!

The overall experience of the hotel was great. Our only complaint was the room was located on the 2nd floor at the back of the hotel overlooking the rooftop equipment and a brick wall.

Very good

My husband and I always stayed at this hotel every time we are in Ottawa. It's a great location and close to everything although the parking is a little bit expensive. The room is nice and clean and very spacious. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I will recommend this hotel to friends and family.

The Elgin is very conveniently placed in the city of Ottawa, close to the Parliment, Byward Market, the Rideau Canal and downtown shopping. It is clean and pleasant; the staff are friendly and professional. They have a decent cafe for breakfast, but you will have to pay for it. If you enjoy walking, you will find much to do in Ottawa with this hotel as your base.

Close to everything

Pros: It's always clean and well-maintained
Cons: Not sure there's much you can do about it but the rooms are kind of small
Location: Close to everything
I have stayed at the Lord Elgin several times when I've been in Ottawa and always enjoy my stay at this hotel. This was no exception. It is steps away from Parliament Hill and downtown Ottawa, and Elgin street with all the little shops and restaurants is just outside the door. The Byward Market is only a 10-15 minute walk away, and the Rideau Center shopping mall is only a 10 minute walk. It's also on the main transit line, which makes it easy to go to catch a bus to anywhere in the city. Hotel staff was friendly and welcoming and very helpful with anything

The staff are excellent!!!!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: parking costs
My thoughts of the Lord Elgin were omg this is the Lord Elgin. Beautiful outside and in. The rooms to me were just ok, nothing fancy, but very comfortable. it was ok though as we did not spend much time there. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and cannot wait till we come back.

Good hotel let down by service in the restaurant at breakfast

Pros: Free Internet, starbucks in lobby
Cons: good resturant in evening difficult to find nearby
Ideally located for a businss or lesiure visit. Room was spacious but looks a little tired. Not impressed by the level of service in the restaurant perhaps caused partly bt the fact that the hotel was fully booked durong part of my stay. Difficult to find good quality restaurant nearby in the evenings Staff generally helpful.
