The location cant be beat.... perfect for windsor castle, for the train, restaurants and shops The hotel has seen better days but for the price and the location a little dated furniture was acceptable. Staff was great helpful and very accomodating.. i had to change rooms and when i came back my bags.were in my new room... Would go back any time

Great hotel and location

Great location, ring at the top oftown opposite the castle. Its a room only hotel so no bar or restaurant, but Windsor has an abundance of pubs and restaurants to choose from.

We only stayed one night and the location across from Windsor Castle was fantastic. The whole hotel seems dated and in parts tardy and needs serious investment to bring it up to a four or five star establishment. Disappointed with the hotel but not the location.

Worst Hotel Stay I’ve Ever Experienced

I had the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced at this property. The room was tiny, uncomfortable, and in terrible condition. The fan wasn’t working at all, making the room unbearably hot. The wardrobe made a loud creaking noise every time I moved, the bed kept sliding around instead of staying in place, and the bathroom was vile and dirty—completely unacceptable for any hotel. The overall condition of the room was shocking, and it felt nothing like what was advertised. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and strongly advise avoiding it if you value cleanliness, comfort, and a good night’s sleep.

The hotel is in a great location in a very typically old british style but it needs a refurb. The room I had (superior) backed onto the bin area behind and at 5am there was a lot of activity with smashing glass etc.

Did the job but no wow factor

Only had a 1 night stay. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Lovely view of Windsor castle but balcony was very tatty. It was fairly clean and tidy in, however, the air con unit had some dust in it. One socket in the room didn't work and the bathroom light didn't turn off properly

We had been booked into the wrong room. Bed made up with duvet the wrong way round and two sachets of tea, one of which was torn and empty. Following day we returned to our room after a day out to find that the bed had not been made at all. Having spoken to reception that evening and the following day I was assured that the hotel would get back to me. They have not. Advertised as having a spa but there isn’t one.

The property does not list that it does not have air conditioning. If you complain they give you a fan and tell you to open a window onto a busy street. We couldn’t stay the 3 nights because of the heat and only asked for a refund for the last night and the property refused. This is a scam I would not stay there again.

Excellent view but needs work

Room was large & had great view of the castle right across the room. Unfortunately it is tired & the ceiling of the bathroom started leaking when it rained, worrying when it was coming through the light fitting. Quite a convaluted route through the building to get to the room

Awesome view of the castle! Staff was very accommodating. However, the first 2 nights the air conditioning was not working and it was very warm in the room. Windows didn’t stay open.

Great location at competitive price

Returned to hotel where we married in 2014. Since reopening, post-COVID, breakfast is no longer available and decor (especially carpets) looks tired. Our room overlooking castle was highly desirable, but subject to some road noise. Hotel management could improve guests’ enjoyment by providing information in room on history of the Harte and Garter, plus recommendations as to local attractions to visit.

Did not honour booking agreement, we had to pay extra £50 for the room. they said there was a fault on the net and the price was wrong, also they said you Hotel.com knew this and had sent me a email informing me. If you did I never got one.we feel this was a con as they new if we did not pay we would have to start looking else where for a room.
