Le service est terrible

J’ai choisi une chambre standard, mais je ne m’attendais pas à me retrouver dans la portion motel. Aussi dans l’hôtel, il n’y avait qu’une personne pour servir à la réception ainsi qu’au bar et ceux à partir de 4h30 17h jusqu’au lendemain matin. Nous avons attendu 3045 minutes pour nous faire servir une bière et un verre de rosé pour la somme de 26 $ avant les frais de service le vin rosé était imbuvable. Nous avons dû insister à deux reprises pour obtenir un remboursement pour le verre de vin. Donc sur les photos on voit une belle terrasse mais il n’y a aucun service disponible. Apportez donc votre vin ainsi que votre bière et éviter les chambres standard.

The hotel is very nicely situated with updated rooms. The morning light breakfast was standard and good. Unfortunately at the time of our stay, they were under staff ( only 1 person to do everthing including servicing the bar). Out of everything in the bar. The roof terrace is a great idea, but again no one to service the bar which look abonded. For the price we paid, its a shame they could not get staff in a hotel that was fully book.

I recently stayed at La Boréale in Saint-Félicien and felt it was important to share some honest feedback about the experience, particularly regarding the ambiance and guest reception. The interior decor is noticeably dominated by very dark colours, especially shades of red and black, which is quite unconventional for a hotel setting. While it might be intended as modern or bold, the overall effect felt cold and aggressive rather than warm and inviting. For a place that should offer rest and comfort—especially for travellers arriving from long distances like the northern Lac-Saint-Jean region—this kind of atmosphere misses the mark. This tense mood seemed to carry over into the guests as well. During breakfast, it was noticeable that no one seemed particularly at ease or cheerful—a rare and telling observation in a hotel setting. The ambiance truly affects the overall guest experience, and in this case, it felt more draining than restful. Another unfortunate detail: upon our late evening arrival, the receptionist did not acknowledge us or offer a greeting. We had to be the ones to say hello first, which left a rather poor first impression. A warm welcome, especially at the front desk, is such a simple yet powerful gesture—one that was clearly lacking here. I sincerely hope that the management considers creating a more welcoming and calming environment—both in terms of design and customer service. A hotel should be a refuge for travellers, not a place where the mood feels
