Welcoming respite on long trip to Alaska in April

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Charming, old-world feel. Views, good food and wine. Would return for a longer stay to enjoy all the amenities.

great location near Lake Louise & Fairmont Hotel; room was clean but small and had no AC, fan or ventilation other than one roadside window; no in room TV or coffeemaker; no elevator; mid afternoon service at bar & grill was nil though not busy; exit from hotel grounds was one way up toward congested lake area.

Quaint historic lodge

Pros: The price was nice, the location was beautiful, and the staff was awesome
Cons: Individual room temperature control would be a plus, as well as a refridgerator option,
Location: The lodge is with in a 5 minute walk of Lake Louis and the hotel so there are plenty of things to do there like ice skating, a sled ride, sledding,
If you are expecting a 5 star stay this isn't your place, if you like quaint historic type atmosphere that is laid back then this might be a choice for you. The ammenities are slim compared to other places but the lodge is historic and the staff is very helpful and pleasant. The location is a very brief walk to Lake Louis so the view is quite beautiful. We only ate at the restaraunt one time for breakfast but the food was awesome.

A nice place to stay near Lake Louise

Pros: The hotel was in walking distance of Lake Louise and they had free parking.
Cons: The guests could have been asked to quiet down after 11 pm. by the management.
Location: The lakes are beautiful and the hiking trails are good.
All the hotels in area during the summer are pricey. This hotel had better prices than some. We ate good omelets for breakfast and tasty fish for dinner at their cafe. The room doesn't have a TV but we were busy anyway. Some of the guests were noisy until 1 am.

Fabulous Lake Louise

Pros: Comfortable rooms, hot tub under the stars, unique old time feel
Cons: lighting in the hot tub as it took away from the starry nights
Location: trail to glacier tea house prepar for a hike! The small 'town' of Lake Louise is a little drive with only a few shops but that is not why we visit!
There are basically two hotels near Lake Louise and we are very pleased we chose Deer Lodge! The room was in the newer section of this old hotel and very spacious with a lovely porch to hear the rushing river! The fireplace room is welcome and inviting- so nice to make friends of strangers by a roaring fire. The restaurant was wonderful- enjoyed breakfast and dinner there! I was pleased we chose Deer Lodge to celebrate my special birthday! An easy walk to the lake and trails to enjoy the fabulous mountain and lake views~

Great location but small room

Pros: Location, onsite restaurant and lounge.
Cons: A major remodeling is needed to improve windows, floor, and the bathroom.
Location: Lake Louise is just a couple hundreds of meter away.
The setting of the hotel is very nice, with restaurant and lounge onsite. The staff is friendly. The rooms we got were quite tiny in attic, and the sound-proof were poor.

Not happy with my experience

Cons: No free Internet
The room we had booked was so small the two of us could not even move around properly. For an extra $50 a night they gave us a larger room which was better but still small. No TV, internet or other niceities and had to wait for 20 minutes to get one of the very few staff to get us to the new room. No elevators so we had to drag our suitcases upstairs. All in all the owners are just trying to squeeze out every buck they can. On the good side, the hot tub on the roof worked properly and the food was decent although expensive.

Great location

Pros: Free Internet, great hikes nearby
This past summer we had made reservations for one of the very small. least expensive rooms which are comfortable, functional but somewhat spartan. They are great if you plan to spend most of your time enjoying the fantastically beautiful scenery and great outdoors and only need a comfortable, clean place to sleep. When we arrived we were offered an upgrade to a very nice, spacious, attractively decorated room for a nominal fee--- we took it. The location of the lodge, a short walk to Lake Louise, is a real bonus, especially when you see all the cars lined up on the main road everyday trying to get into the public parking lot. The lodge does provide free, convenient parking for guests. The dining room has very good food, better quality at a much more reasonable price than any of the larger nearby establishments. The grounds are attractively landscaped, beautiful flowers, and on mild days it is very pleasant to eat outside. The main part of the lodge was built many years ago and it has the charm and character of an older establishment. The stairs creak and there is no elevator but the wood paneling and the period furniture in the reception rooms add to its appeal.
