Rooms are run down (peeling wallpaper, worn down carpets, bubbled up baseboards, bathrooms in need of repair/update). Beds are firm. The lobby is beautiful though. We didn’t have enough time to try out the restaurants. We did enjoy the valet parking and the luggage check in while we explored the city. Staff was wonderful. Overall for the price and little time spent there, not worth the money.

The room was much smaller than I thought. The bathroom was so small that I could barely stand inside. It wasn’t clean, but they made the bed nicely and took the trash. The air-conditioning heating was falling apart, making noises at night and smelling burned and also no coffee machine in the room, which is to me a big minus. The doorman was exceptional. He helped me with luggage, booking a car to the airport, picking up my luggage in the room his name was Naz. Thank you so much to Naz for making my checkout and trip to the airport so much better and comfortable

We stayed there the weekend before the macys parade. The only thing I would honestly have a gripe about is the room needed to be a little bit more updated. However, it was a fantastic experience and the service and treatment were great. I would recommend staying there.

Yes, the room is neglected. The floors look like they have not been shampooed for a good year. There are not even coffee machines in the room. There is no ice machine on the floor. You have to wait until they finally pick up downstairs. There are bedbugs all throughout the hotel Some of the managers Maggie, Edgar, and the weekend client service manager are the most arrogant and frankly stupid people I’ve ever encountered in hospitality. There is an art to it, and it is not difficult to do well. I have stayed in this hotel for decades. It is a shame to see it being ruined. I am in the process of submitting a complete report to the health department due to what occurred during my stay be forewarn. The Empire Hotel‘s policy does not factor in client illness. They would rather you get on an elevator contagious to finally reach the front desk then behave with respect and wait until you can get through and remain sick without medication juice, water, or ice for 12 hours. They are a disgrace. Do not stay in this hotel. There are other options further up around 72nd St. do not stay in this hotel I cannot believe what has happened to it in one short year. The only solution is to fire all of the senior management. Keep some of the Front desk managers who are excellent and fire the GM , I it’s only a matter of time before the negligence shown by certain members of the staff create a lawsuit that will not only destroy their reputation, but cost them an absolute fortune. Avoid MAGGIE

This is the worst Hotel now. I had a terrible experience my first week after spending $3300. I was only convinced to come back because of the kindness of some of the other staff we came back after leaving for two days though the service is now subpar, no one answers the front desk phone. There isn’t even a coffee machine. People down the hall from me had bedbugs. I had everything wrapped in plastic to make sure it was safe The rudeness and outrageous behavior of Maggie & whoever the weekend client services manager is & I believeEdgar makes Empire that is not worth coming to no matter the price I’ve been going for years & I have never experienced anything like this. They seem to now rely on the fact that most people who come are perhaps on a once in a lifetime trip, the line at the front desk is always an hour long. You cannot call downstairs because there’s no one dedicated to the phone the way I was treated on two occasions after spending a month there in a small fortune was outrageous. When I asked to arrange for a conversation with the general manager, I was told that he had already conducted an investigation, & his staff was not at fault, which is very strange since I had not submitted any information whatsoever.. the billing was a mess when I left they got my billing all confused actually called my travel agent that I had an outstanding balance, & my card didn’t work. this was not true, & there was no apology, nor email sent to my travel agent which I requested

The worst experience/once a great NYC mainstay, now a trashy filthy mess, focused on scamming as much 💵 My Neighor’s down the hall had bed bugs. The heat was broken- sent a space heater! For days. My teen I got very the day we were to leave for weeked- front dest never answers the phone.tried all morning. Not wanting to risk getting the other guests- during NY marathon) & staff sick by taking the elevator. After three hours- no ice, no water I opened the door to ask housekeeping to have the front desk call me. Had spent $ 3,300 dollars Maggie, who should be fired- called and screamed at me. Lying that she didn’t have any more of my rooms. Asked her why they were on Expediathru Empires reservation line. Hurled so many insults -me “please send us water & ice”I did tele health & had my medicines delivered by Capaule. Then spent a fortune on juices, remedy’s and soups for us, Maggie screamed that the doormen don’t deliver up. I asked her if The Empire Hotels policy is to have sick contagious guests in the elevator? Silence. Then lied and said she was alone at the desk. Manager T took the phone kindly arranged for doormen to bring up as T left Maggie charged me $1000 $ 449 room. No thank you for not leaving planned with no regard for infecting the guests or staff. Just a fortune grabbed. We fell asleep with raging fevers Woke up hours later no water , ice. The new person brought it up.$250 Soup ice cold. Juices warm and remedy’s warm. For all Maggie knew we could be dead.
