I am disabled for now due to foot surgery and it was not disability accessible. But they were nice enough to send me to their sister hotel to Pod 42 on west 42nd St. and 9th avenue. This hotel is larger and very nice, and roller walker or wheelchair accessible. Thanks

Sixth time staying at Pod 39. Perfect location. Room exactly right to enjoy what NYC has to offer and have a comfortable, safe room waiting. Couldn’t imagine staying somewhere else.

First Pod Experience

First, but certainly won’t be the last time I stay at Pod 39. The location was ideal. The staff was pleasant, which provided for an easy check-in and check-out experience.

loud, cramped, stinky

Pros: Location and staff
Cons: smell
Location: NYPL, Grand Central, Empire State Building
First of all, I was not expecting the bars on the lower level and roof to be so busy. This hotel is probably for a young 20s set. It's loud. You can hear every person talking in your hallway. There were a lot of "bro" type guys in the bars and it was kind of a hook-up type of scene. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable enough, but the room had a really unpleasant mildew smell. It's also very cramped, which I expected, but I would not recommend staying here with more than one person. To put it this way: don't stay here with someone if you are not comfortable watching them go to the bathroom - and I mean literally sitting on the toilet - not to mention showering etc. My bathroom had a glass door that had about a three foot line of frosted glass across the center. The good news is that the location is fantastic - a few blocks from Grand Central and the NY Public Library and easily walkable, or easy to get a cab or ride service like Lyft or Uber. The staff is also very nice and helpful.

Inexpensive, stylish hotel

Pros: Stylish, easy location, inexpensive
Location: The hotel is near the UN, close to the subway and the garment district. The NY Public Library main branch is beautiful. It sits on Bryant Park.
This is a hotel I return to when I work in New York for short visits. The room is tiny by design, and that's how they keep prices low. It would only be comfortable for one guest -- I would not recommend having two people in a room. My biggest issue with the hotel is that they have a huge wooden frame around the bed. When you walk out of the bathroom, it's easy to forget that the bed is just one step away. After each stay, I walk away with an enormous bruise on my kneecap from walking right into this huge bed frame.

Great for NYC

This is maybe my third stay at Pod 39. It is in a great Murrayhill location, with easy walking in Midtown and even over to the West side for shows. It also is very close to Grand Central Station. The hotel is connected to Salvation Taco which is a really good restaurant. And the rooftop bar area is just beautiful. This has become my go-to hotel for a weekend trip to New York. The price usually is better than other places as well. If you don't mind the compact space, it's perfect.
