The "Old Barn" in the woods. Peace, Romance, Ahhh
“Best property I’ve ever been to.”

“The location is unbelievable — like a mountain retreat in town!”

Welcome to The Old Barn — your own hidden forest retreat just minutes from Portland.
Tucked among towering trees, wildlife, and winding woodland paths, The Old Barn feels wonderfully removed from the city, even though downtown Portland and many of the area’s most famous attractions are only about 10 minutes away.
And if you really want to make your stay unforgettable, there’s one more experience you won’t find at an ordinary vacation rental...
Want your own Bigfoot sighting? :-) Contact Peter after booking to schedule one. It’s a great way to surprise your kids, family, friends — or that one person in your group who swears Bigfoot isn’t real.
Once you arrive, though, you may decide you don’t want to go anywhere at all.
## The Space
The Old Barn is filled with character, creativity, warmth, and just the right amount of whimsy.
Its eclectic design and magical woodland setting make it unlike anything else nearby. You get the feeling of escaping to a mountain retreat without actually leaving Portland behind.
Nike headquarters, downtown Portland, the International Rose Test Garden, Japanese Garden, Arboretum, Council Crest, great restaurants, hiking, and many of Portland’s best-known attractions are all just minutes away.
But outside your door?
Trees. Birds. Wildlife. Quiet.
Wake up to birdsong, step onto the deck with your coffee, and see who may have wandered through overnight. Owls, eagles, deer, coyotes, flying squirrels, and other woodland neighbors are known to visit.
And yes... despite extensive searching, we still haven’t seen any elephants.
Bigfoot, on the other hand? Well, that’s another story. :-)
Inside, the comfort continues.
The primary bedroom features a luxurious king bed with a remote that allows you to raise the head or feet, plus a massage feature for a little extra relaxation.
There’s also a desk area with a foot massager, making it easy to get some work done — although we strongly recommend doing as little work as possible while you’re here.
Then there’s the outdoor hot tub, surrounded by the peaceful forest setting and reserved exclusively for you.
So soak, relax, listen to the trees, watch for wildlife, and enjoy the strange realization that all of Portland is right down the road.
## Guest Access
Guests have private access to the entire Old Barn, including the beautiful outdoor deck and private hot tub.
The space is designed to feel peaceful, secluded, and entirely your own.
There is another guest unit approximately 500 feet down the hill. That area is reserved for those guests, so please remain within The Old Barn’s designated areas. Although the property feels wonderfully remote, there are also neighbors beyond the wooded grounds, and we want to respect everyone’s privacy.
## Other Things to Know
For the best hot tub experience, please rinse off before entering.
To operate the jets, use only the blue spinning button to turn them on and off. The controls are sensitive, and other settings can accidentally be changed by pressing additional buttons.
For safety, please do not use the hot tub alone, avoid alcohol or drugs while using it, and limit hot tub sessions to approximately 15 minutes at a time.
Pets are welcome with a one-time $58 pet fee per pet. Pets must remain leashed whenever they are outside the unit for their safety, the wildlife’s safety, and the comfort of other guests and neighbors.
## Make It a Stay You’ll Talk About for Years
Come for the forest.
Soak in the hot tub.
Listen for the owls.
Watch the deer move through the trees.
Enjoy Portland whenever you feel like rejoining civilization.
And if you’d like to give your family or friends a vacation story they’ll never forget, contact Peter after booking to schedule your own Bigfoot sighting. :-)
After all... you’re staying in the Pacific Northwest.
Keep your eyes on the woods.
