We have been in the Dominican Republic over 10 times and this is our first negative review. Where do I begin to explain how terrible this resort is? There should be a disclaimer that they only cater to Spanish-speaking customers. Every piece of entertainment was all in Spanish. Spanish speaking people were greeted with smiles and seated right away. All inclusive does not mean all inclusive unless you are constantly tipping people to get any kind of service. Even then it’s substandard. You will never be over-served alcohol here because getting orders filled at the bar or restaurants is almost impossible. You can order room service but will not get it. You can order towels and things multiple times and you will never receive them. You will get rolled eyes if you try to speak English to get a table at any of the restaurants. You could possibly find a big piece of plastic bag in your food like we did. You can try to book a restaurant for a week for a big family dinner and never get it. Hands down the worst resort I have stayed in in my entire life.

My stay at this hotel was just okay. From the start, there were a few things that made the experience less than comfortable. There was a weird smell in the room and in some common areas — definitely not the best first impression. The customer service was hit or miss. Some of the staff were friendly and really tried to help, but others clearly didn’t want to be there and weren’t interested in helping at all. It was hard to know what kind of service you’d get each day. The fridge in the room didn’t work — they replaced it twice and it still didn’t work. Also, the room keys kept getting deactivated, which meant multiple trips back to the front desk to fix them. And honestly, the drinks were pretty disappointing. Cocktails didn’t taste good at all, and most of the time the beer wasn’t even cold — which was a big letdown, especially in the heat. Overall, the hotel has potential, but they really need to step it up in terms of service, maintenance, and just getting the basics right.

The pool entertainment staff was 100% excellent. They made the day a lot more family friendly fun. Especially (King Kong) when he gathered a crowd to play pool volleyball. My daughter loved it we played for 3 days straight with him and others! The dinner restaurants are 100% worth the trips. The sports bar food really sucked, there waiters were so mean and didn’t really care. Bar staff there were good and friendly, outside pool bar tenders were awesome as well, only thing I’d add is to have more night entertainment but over all it was great!

We had a family vacation at the Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda resort, July 1st to the 8th. We had two different rooms on different floors. The resort was very nice with the trees and bushes maintained all around the gated complex. We did have an issue with our room the very first night. Our front door would not close unless you slammed it very hard. My wife found a large cockroach running on the floor while I was in the shower. The bedding was dirty and two of the four pillows smelled terrible. I proceeded to the front desk at around 11:50pm and talked to Eduard about the room and asked him to change it. He was very nice and told me that it was his job to make us happy. He found another room and quickly got a bellhop to transfer our luggage to the new room. The new room was fine. We had no other issues for the rest of the week. I would go back to the Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda again. The staff were friendly and helpful, the all inclusive part is very nice. We enjoyed the food, the Carney buffet was very nice with all kinds of variety. For breakfast, lunch and dinner it was the best. We did go to the Greek restaurant, Japanese restaurant, and Dominican restaurant at the resort. The food was just okay, but the atmosphere was very nice and so was the wait staff. There are plenty of great pools with bars. There was a small water park for the grandson which he loved. Unfortunately the beach had lots of seaweed during our stay. But we all had a great time.

The place is a great location but the hotel was not so clean, specially the buffet very busy and dirty, bathrooms on most of the resort not clean at all. Some employees very means!! Too little access for what you pay also a very disappointing on transport .Everyone looking just for the tips and pools very disappointed with tends being busy all the times even there were no people all most all the time!! Beach very dirty

Nice time

I was worried about the seaweed but turned out there is so much more to this resort than just the beach that it wasn’t a bother at all. Accommodating, clean and comfortable. Took the guesswork and planning out of the stay entirely. Will be back at one of the properties for certain.
