the room was ordinary but comfortable.

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: Noisy
We were given a room directly over the front door where people came out from the pub to smoke and the noise and smoke made it necessary to have the windows closed and the ensuing stuffyness required the very noisy air conditioner to be on. Not a particularly bad experience but not great either.

Thank you victraveller for your review and choosing to stay with us at the Chateau Victoria Hotel and Suites and for taking the time to provide us with the comments from your stay. The responses we receive from our guests are extremely valuable and sincerely appreciated. We do make every effort to meet and ideally exceed our guests’ expectations, and were disappointed to learn you were unhappy with your suite location. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Upon your next visit to Victoria, please explain your concern and request a suite on the east facing side of the building, which faces away from the noisier city core and has a more expansive view. We will certainly do what we can to accommodate. Thank you again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back to Victoria.

The music in the roof restaurant was dreary and "whiney". Some low-key big-band music might be nice. Benny Goodman and Guy Lombardo would certainly be familiar to most of the folks I saw up there, and a lot more cheerful. If you really want to be romantic try Al Bowlly!

Beautiful weather

We expected bad weather so the larger room with kitchen seemed necessary. The sun was out so we were in our room only minimally. Definitely will be back in the fall when we will use the well equipped kitchen.

Walking distance to downtown

Pros: Comfortable beds.In room coffee and tea.Clean room.
Cons: A bit of an attitude with one employee. However, she might have been new and unsure of herself.
Location: Close to musium, art gallery, bug musium, miniature world( I have never seen it befor) am very impressed.Lots of restaurants.
We arrived at 4 p.m. The room was ready but they put us in the wrong room.At first they wanted us to accept it.I was not pleased. Then another girl came and gave us the room I had originally requested. From then on I was happy.Walking distance from the musium and art gallery and the things we wanted to see was very nice.

Could have been better...

I was pretty excited to have booked the Chateau Victoria for my 5 night stay in my favourite city. I'd read a ton of great reviews online and was expecting greatness. Greatness was not what we got, but rather "this will do"ness. It really wound up being a disappointment, especially after seeing the room pictures online. Our junior suite, located on the 5th floor, was not at all what is depicted. Maybe the hotel is under renovations and that room/floor hasn't been included yet, but for the price, the hotel should make it clear what you're getting...or make the room cheaper than the "nice" rooms. The furniture is old and kind of shabby, the carpet worn, and the textured ceilings look straight from the 80s.  That said, there was lots of space for me, my husband, and our 5 month old baby (and a complimentary crib). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and we had more than one employee go out of their way for us. Always great! The location is also pretty ideal...though we were very close to The Sticky Wicket and the noise and partying was annoying as it grew late each night. This place has such potential to get a higher rating from me, and I would stay here again, but next time, I'd make sure to ask for a room that matches the websites pictures:) My last heads up I

Enjoyed our stay

The hotel is about a 10 min. walk from the ferry.  We were happy with our room.  The beds were fine and everything seemed clean. They upgraded us to a suite with a balcony, which was much nicer than we were expecting.  The staff is friendly and helpful.  They also provide free shuttle service.  Our kids enjoyed the pool.

Very helpful staff !!!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
We stayed here for a week during the world curling and had a very pleasant stay. They have a shuttle that will take you most places that you want to go and we never had to wait more than a few minutes. The hotel is within walking distance to the inner harbour and downtown shopping, so we never needed to use a taxi.we got a great rate for a junior suite , which was really a one bedroom with a couch that we made out into a bed. small kitchen that had everything we needed except a decent sized coffee pot. The coffee pot would be our only small complaint ,there is a small 3 cup pot in the room. staying for 8 nights and having three of us it would have been good to have a larger pot.We can't say enough about the staff . From the front desk to the people working the lounge they all were very helpful , but the best thing was that they all had a smile for us and were very friendly. Thanks for a great stay Chateau Victoria we hope to be back !!!!
