I didn’t like the hard to get to the hotel, no space for parking and the valet service is a joke!!! For $45 dollars a night is so expensive!!! The service is awful, but wen I get to check in the lady in the front desk didn’t greet me. …. She was so rude and with a really bad attitude!!! Sadly I have a car accident going to the hotel but she didn’t even care about that… the elevator is a joke and there are no safety control of any kind!!! That elevator nearly fit 3 people!!! And forget it if you have a big luggage it won’t fit… the room are renovated but have a old smell…,like something is humid, the bathroom is so small you cannot use the toilet properly!!!there where no bathrooms toiletries!!! We have to ask for it. The place smells like a fish market from the restaurant in the 1st floor, we cannot even have water because we have to pay for it $4 for water!!!! So bad experience!!!🙁 extremely desapointing!!!

Great location for Harvard Law, great bedding and very quiet. Bathroom is ok, typical of older building— time to remove the round bottom tub and make a standing shower! But I like this place and will definitely come back.

Friendly & relaxing experience!
I stayed here after an especially stress week, and this was just what I needed. My arm was in a sling, and the staff went the extra mile in being helpful. Everyone was so friendly - from the front desk staff to the concierge to the bellhops to the restaurant waitresses & waiters. I definitely recommend staying here!

affordable and close to Harvard Square
Pros:The room was big and beautiful and the bed was SO comfortable. I slept better there than I do at home.
Cons:An airport shuttle would be nice. Refresh water & coffee even if linens are not changed ("green" option). And too many floating pieces of paper!
The Commander has a lot of the "character" of an older hotel (read: tiny elevators), but lots of the amenities of a new hotel. The staff got me on a computer in the business center before I checked in, and made the effort to get me a room as early as possible (well before regular check-in). I also attended a "function" at the hotel (brunch for a group of 100+), which was nicely done.

Upscale but friendly atmosphere, great staff
Pros:Close restaurants, Quiet, Free breakfast
I stayed last weekend and went to the Red Sox game. Red Sox lost and the hotel was the best part of the trip.
Great location near Harvard, friendly staff and Great on-site restaurant which was reasonably priced.
If I go back to Boston this summer I'd definitely stay again at lthe Commander so even if the Red Sox lose again I'll have a good trip.
