We are just wrapping up a week at Paradisus Playa Del Carmen. The service we received from our Concierge Roxanna was next level, we've never been so personally taken care of. From little gifts and things for the kids, to chilled champagne in our room. She made sure we were well looked after. The weather was a little cooler than expected our first few days, unseasonably so for Mexico, so the pools certainly felt cold. I believe they are somewhat heated, but the resort as a whole is feeling it's age. The room was nice enough for sure for our purposes and we certainly made good use of the outdoor jacuzzi in the cool evenings. The buffet meals were fine, there weren't many options for my wife and kids though like we've had at other resorts i.e. hamburgers, hot dogs and fries etc. the beach is really nice, lots of soft white sand and plenty of seating, although some of the seats and umbrellas are pretty worn out. The nightly entertainment wasn't the greatest we've seen, but the staff are all very friendly and really try to make your stay enjoyable. The water park is lots of fun. With decent slides and a variety even for the little ones. This was a highlight and the best one at any resort we've stayed at thus far. Overall, a great time was had by our family, but this resort (the all ages side anyway) does feel like it's catered to the younger kids (mine are 12 and 9) and it was rare we saw another child my 12 year olds age. Lots of kids in puddle jumpers.

We just came back from a week at Paradisus Playa Del Carmen. The resort was terrific, great food, very well maintained grounds, beautiful beach. Unfortunately, our stay ended on a terrible note with some of the worst hospitality I’ve ever experienced. We had tried multiple times to secure late check out but were told repeatedly that they could not accommodate the request. So, we booked the hospitality suite for 3:00 given our pre-arranged airport transfer was coming at 3:45. We showed up at 2:55 for the suite and were told it wasn’t ready and they needed 15 minutes to prepare it. I asked if they could please expedite given our timing with our transport. We waited 10 minutes and then asked on the progress. The staff said it still hadn’t been cleaned but they would now call someone. I was upset that they hadn’t even called someone when we first arrived. We waited 5 more minutes and still no one showed up to clean. I asked the front desk staff Carlos to check the state of the suite. We went to look together and the room had wet floors and dirty used wet towels on the floor. He looked at that and said we could use it. I was completely floored at his lack of concern over the state of the room and his unwillingness to try to solve the problem. I asked to have it cleaned up for our use and he said he would call someone. There was absolutely no sense of urgency from the front desk staff at all and they were all completely unempathetic to the situation. Terrible way to end our trip.

On day 5 of our 7-day all-inclusive trip, I discovered a bed bug in one of our beds. Earlier in the week, I had noticed bites but assumed they were mosquito bites. While the hotel staff did respond quickly and moved us to a different room, I was unable to sleep comfortably for the remainder of the stay. The bites continued to grow in size, including one on my face. Thankfully, the bites were isolated to me and did not affect my daughter. However, I only travel once a year, and this incident significantly dampened what should have been a relaxing experience at the Paradisus Hotel. Other than that, the food options were good overall, though it was difficult to book restaurant reservations at reasonable times, so we often defaulted to the buffet. The family shows held in one of the open lobbies were enjoyable and added a fun atmosphere to the evenings. The pool, kid pool, waterpark and beach were enjoyable too. I am not jaded by Mexico as a destination, but I am not sure how soon I would choose to return to Paradisus again because of this experience.

I I would highly recommend this establishment as an exceptional family-friendly destination. The pool facilities are outstanding, and the property itself is impeccably maintained. Thanks to Andres, our stay at this hotel became one of the most amazing experiences we had in Mexico. Be sure to book the Family Concierge package—it's absolutely worth the price. The hotel offers direct access to a beautiful beach and also allows access to a neighboring resort, Paradisus La Perla, which is a great added bonus. Please note that the hotel does not provide transportation, so you'll need to arrange it separately.

Far from airport, but worth it to be close to Playa del Carmen and all the attractions. Room was large and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Large breakfast buffet with good food. Complimentary room service for breakfast. Lots of restaurants with good food. Nice pool. The cons - mosquitoes in the room. We would kill a few every night, but would miss one, who would feast on my son while he was sleeping. They clearly fly in when the maid props open the door. Closing the door would be a good preventative measure! On the fifth day, someone showed up asking if we wanted our room sprayed, so was clearly a problem in all rooms. Wish I had known to request on the first day. There are also a ton of coatis roaming around the pool, and rummaging through trash cans. They are cute, but they are wild animals that can bite. Wouldn't want to stay here with small children, as I would constantly be trying to prevent them from petting them. Also had raccoons on the path to our building. Because of the open architecture, one entered our lobby, pulled down the garbage can by the elevator, and scattered garbage all over. We had to wait until it left before going up to our rooms, since we didn't want to risk being attacked. Was also one lying on the stairs. So every night we had to creep up to our room looking for raccoons who might be in our path. I don't think the adult-only section had the same animal problem.
