Pros - great watermark for kids, rooms are clean, good location, good price compared to others in banff. View of mountain is good. Cons - room and facility is dated and in disrepair and kids play area is in a weird basement off the parade and very dusty (though my son still loved it), but the worst was that non smoking rooms allow smoking on the decks, so while having coffee and doing yoga or opening slider for air all we could smell was cigarettes and pot and front desk did nothing, said its allowed. I also booked many months in advance and still got a room on a loud road.

Cheap and Tearful…no cheer here: Very dated and smells strongly of old cigarettes in our room. Carpets and decor are badly in need of an upgrade throughout. Paid long weekend prices for a Sunday night stay, only to find out they follow their regular Monday hours of operation and you can not access any amenities until 14:30, well after checkout at 11:00. Upon arrival, pulled out the couch bed to find the linens were not changed from the last people, so called down right away. Came back 5 hours later and they still weren’t changed, plus housekeeping was already off. They brought us sheets to make it up ourselves. Wifi is spotty at best, kicking you off the network repeatedly, so this review may not even go through.

The suite we had was very dated. Kitchen cupboard doors were falling off and not closing. The fridge was running constantly. The bathroom had a vanity door missing and the grout in the shower was dirty and mouldy. There was a ceiling exhaust fan in the bathroom, but it didn’t work.There was no BBQ as stated. The kitchen sink faucet was loose and felt like it was going to break off anytime we used it. Overall, we were not happy and would not recommend this place.

It was once charming

Unfortunately, the property looks like it's seen better days. It's a cute place, or was about a decade ago. Now, it's a little dilapidated. Our one bedroom condo had huge, dust-laden cobwebs in each corner; the wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom and it looked like there was black mold (or very black dust) on the top lip of the tile in the shower. The balcony had a pair of dirty plastic chairs on it and the wall sconce and a wall-mounted ashtray were left lying in front of the sliding door like someone had meant to throw them out but forgotten. The fridge had a layer of dust on top. The air vent cover was black with grime. We had a fireplace and enjoyed building a fire but the fire curtain was broken and was difficult to get into place. The sofa felt broken when we sat on it. There was supposed to be a light over the door but the sconce was hanging off it. The kitchen was otherwise clean and well-stocked, which was a pleasant surprise, and the dishwasher was a nice touch. It's in a quieter location and we enjoyed the distance to the town and the trails around it. The condo itself was well laid out. I can imagine in the lodge's heyday it was a very nice place to stay in, especially if you have kids. We were attracted by the low price but next time will go someplace more expensive and cleaner.

Never again

Room is unique and looks good at first but the longer we stayed the worse it got. Card didnt work. Microwave/phone/dishwasher were all broken. Bed linens werent clean and beds themselves were so uncomfortable and sunken in the middle it made for a horrible sleep. Play center and change rooms for pool smelled like urine. Hot tub inside was dirty as was the pool. When i checked out i was told i would hear from a manager when they got in about a refund and that was at 8 am this morning. Its now 2 pm and have yet to hear from them. Elevator was absolutely terrifying. It dropped after every floor. Hotel itself is like a maze trying to get from point A to B. Will not stay there again.

The check-in and out was smooth and quick, despite the hotel being old it was well taken care and the room was clean, we only found one dirty tissue on our bed when we return but overall very good. The bad thing is that the pool and hot tub is limited to 9pm which is not fun because many like us enjoy the hot tub at night undee the stars. The bus transportation drops you off right in front of the hotel and to grab it is across the street. The scenery of the mountains is amazing and lots of deers roaming the area. Worth the stay!!!!
