THE place for a romantic stay in Banff

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet, romantic, gas fireplace
Fantastic, romantic and unbelievable...sums up our room perfectly. A jetted tub for two, large king bed, gorgeous gas fireplace and double sinks..I love it, will return and highly recommend.

Unkempt sad looking hotel

When checking in, we were informed the pool was closed for cleaning and would be open the following day. Two days later, it still wasn't open. Our kids were disappointed. When you first enter our condo style room, you notice mold along the floor boards and damage from previous tennants. Yet a security deposit is collected from every visitor which is obviously never utilized appropriately. Beds hard. The room was never cleaned - not once in four days. Towels were not changed. There are four inch dust bunnies hanging from the ceiling. You better not snore with an open mouth! We ran out of toilet paper and the supply closet was locked so they weren't sure they could supply us with any more!! Wi-Fi never worked. I love Banff and love walking in to town from Tunnel Mountain but next time we will stay elsewhere.

Not my best experience

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: Noisy
This is such a beautiful setting, the accommodtion could be so much better. Our first room was excrutiatingly hot, even after turning the thermostat off and opening the patio door it wouldn't cool down, maintenance came to check it out (very quickly) at 4 a.m. Apparently we were above the boiler room and it is aways hot. We were given and had to move to another room (at 4:30 a.m.) with an outdoor entrance and credited that nights stay which was great but buggered up any plans for skiing the next day which was why we were there in the first place. Our room was never cleaned, the recycle was taken away but the carpet wasn't ever cleaned and since you walk directly from outside into the bedroom and the table is in the living room, the carpet was quite dirty, a dust buster or carpet sweeper would have been nice, at least. When checking in, we were given paperwork etc. stating their no tolerance policy on noise etc. after 11 p.m. Apparently this is just lip service, we listened to people yelling and partying until well after 2 a.m. As this was new years weekend we expected a little of that but 3 nights was a little excessive.

This hotel needs renovating!

Pros: Quiet, bus into town right in front
Cons: No free Internet
This hotel would have been top of the line about 20 years ago but today, it needs some polishing. One thing I appreciated about this hotel was that it was clean. In order for me to stay here again, the price would have to be lower or it would need upgrades. The bed was rock hard, the bathroom tiles were dingy and falling off, the heating system sounded like a jet engine and the couch needed to be retired. The newest things in the room were the energy efficient light bulbs in the ceiling fan. I do really love this location, the staff is great and overall it is pretty quiet but I don't think the price reflects the quality of the rooms. Invest in some upgrades and Tunnel Mountain will be a gem again!

Nice hotel and great location

Pros: I love everything
Cons: Parking lot is too narrow so it's a little difficult to maneuver the car into/out of the parking space. Would be nice if they offer breakfast.
Location: Downtown Banff, Bow falls and surprise corner are all less than 3 km from this hotel.
I got a king size bed with jacuzzi bath tub, a steam room that doubles as shower and a fireplace. Couldn't ask for more. The jacuzzi is perfect for relaxation after a long day hiking, picture taking. It wasn't extremely cold when I stayed there (mid September) so I didn't use the fireplace at all but fire woods are provided for guests at no extra cost (self service to pickup the fire woods). My room is clean, large and modern looking. 42" LCD TV, a microwave oven, a refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, electric kettle are provided. The kettle is perfect to boil water for my instant cup-a-noodle for breakfast. Hotel also provides 2 bus passes to get around town. It's free to hop on/off city buses but since I have my own rental car, I didn't use the free bus passes at all.

Surprise, surprise

It may not look like much on the outside, but inside the hotel had very nice rooms -- ours was clean, modern, had a comfortable, enormous bed, amazing jacuzzi bath, steam shower, fridge and microwave.  Also, it wasn't in the middle of downtown Banff, which means it was quiet.

Excellent for the price, clean, and comfortable: recommended!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, clean pool
This was a lovely place to stay, it was clean, comfortable, and private. We especially liked the layout - having a couch and room to relax and a separate bedroom, the kitchen was nice as well and we would have definitely made use of it had we stayed longer than one evening. It was also private - with a nice view of trees from the sliding glass door. The staff was nice and helpful. Computer was down while we were there, so no internet and we were backpacking so didn't have our computers, but being unconnected was entirely a bad thing either! Overall I would definitely recommend Tunnel Mountain. We stayed elsewhere on the tail end of our trip (reservations made in advance and TMR was booked) and it was not nearly as nice, we wished we were back here.

Disappointed in assigned room.

Pros: friendly staff
Cons: sliding glass door needs new window covering
Having prepaid, our reservation was secure, BUT I guess due to our late arrival, we were given the worst room in the worst location. It felt like a basement. :( The bed was comfy but the hide-a-bed which we had to use also, was downright disgusting!!! Thank goodness for multiple fresh sheets to cover up that mattress! Furnishings in living area were damaged and tacky.
