Spectacular place to stay in banff

Wonderful environment, great staff, and just a positive place to make a great stay in the area even better. Only complaint that stopped me giving 5 stars was having to pay for parking over and above the cost of the room. Seemed like it should have been something that would be included.

Our stay at the Rimrock

We stayed at the Rimrock from Nov 2 - 5, 2013. As usual the staff were very accommodating during our stay. There were 3 of us in a premium room, which was very spacious. Improvements were made since our last visit as they now have complimentary wireless internet. Another improvement was that they now have a host/hostess that seats you in the Larkspur, which is a good thing as there were times in the past you could be waiting a while for service as no one knew you were there. Only one complaint I have is the $16 charge for parking, which I hope they will eliminate in the future

Best vacation, ever!

We stayed at the Rimrock Resort a total of 4 nights between June 16 - 22, 2013. While there, we experienced exceptional service at all levels - from the doormen, bell service, front desk staff, food and beverage, housekeeping, etc. This is a beautiful hotel with lots of charm, fabulous views, great food and service. While at the hotel, we took advantage of the fitness center and spa service, dined at the Larkspur daily, and on one evening we dined at Eden. The Eden is an experience all in itself. Due to the floods in Canmore and Calgary last week, we ended up staying an extra night. Staff members were very accommodating, and kept guests well informed of the situation. The Hotel Manager was very visible and available to guests and was genuinely interested in how guests were affected by the floods. While in Banff, we explored several trails and lookouts, visited and shopped downtown, experienced the views from the Gondola, played golf and enjoyed a spa day. Guests should take advantage of the Roam bus service. It is very convenient and reliable. We are already looking at our next trip to Rimrock Resort and Banff.

Beautiful Hotel but definitely room for improvement

Upon checking in, we were told that our room would be another 10 minutes until the Housekeeping staff were done; I left my phone number, as per the front desk staff request, and was told I’d be called when it was ready. 2 hours later, with no phone call, I approached the front desk where I was told the room was ready 2 hours ago and they were not sure if someone maybe tried to call or not. We asked the concierge to call for a taxi for us to be at the front doors for 8pm, by 8:20, we asked the concierge to call a taxi again with no record of our original request. The room was beautiful however the bathroom was atrocious. There was no lid for the toilet and the ONLY place for our towels was a small rack located directly above the toilet (no hooks, no other shelves in the bathroom). We placed all of our used towels precariously on this little shelf and hoped they didn’t fall into the toilet for which there was no lid. Also, there was no fan in the bathroom, not acceptable. The hotel is saved however by its breath-taking views as well as it’s extravagant lobby and lobby bar.

The Rimrock Resort has a spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains that are visible from the mountain view rooms as well as all the dining options. We ate at the Primrose on the 6th floor and the food was amazing. We booked a couple's massage and the spa was beautiful and relaxing. The treatments were top notch. Take some time to relax in the hot tub and sauna, you won't regret it! The resort is walking distance from the Gondola that takes you to the top of Sulphur Mountain. This is an adventure you don't want to miss! We really enjoyed our stay at the Rimrock Resort and would definitely come back if we are in the area. I highly recommend it!

Pros: The concierge.
Cons: More cooks or waiters in Primrose restaurant so they need not turn customers away.
Location: Nice location high on a hill with gorgeous views. Short drive to city center.
Beautiful hotel and flawless service. Eden is extremely expensive but a very elegant experience. Primrose was too busy to serve us even though they had empty tables. That was disappointing.
