Wonderful place to stay!

This was my 4th trip to Santa Barbara but my first time staying at the Fess Parker. It is a beautiful, clean, comfortable hotel and the staff was wonderful. I make the trip once a year and will definitely stay there again.

Our stay at Fess Parker Santa Barbara

Pros: Everything
Location: My girlfriend and I walked to Stearns Wharf area and rented a surrey bike for 6 and pedaled it down the beach bike trail and picked up 3 other ladies.
I shared a room at Fess Parker Santa Barbara Double Tree Hilton Resort with 3 other ladies. We had 2 double beds and also a cot requested by one of the ladies. We had plenty of space in our hotel room and lots of towels. The resort is beautiful and very well kept. The beds were very comfortable and quiet. The staff was very accommodating. The ocean was just across the street and very accessible. We had a wonderful 2-day stay! We finished out our last evening by ordering a movie.

Excellent location

Low staff in dining area for lunch. One bar of soap for 2 people, sink and shower! No hair dryer.

Getting old and needs upgrading

Our first room was ground floor adjacent to the pool. Very noisy. Tried to change took 2 nights to get a new room. Overall cleanliness was poor.

Mixed feelings

The fess Parker is conveniently located near the sea front and downtown Santa Barbara, on spacious grounds.  It consists of a series of two story buildings scattered over a fairly extensive area.  I arrived at 3.40 pm and was told my suite was not ready, and to come back at 4 pm.  At 4 pm I was told the suite was still not ready.  After complaining that guests arriving after me were being awarded suites, I was up graded to the Presidential suite.  This was very spacious with amenities such as a huge Jacuzzi, but not overly luxurious. although very comfortable.  I noticed the staff moving around in golf carts, but no one offered to take us and our considerable baggage to our room, a distance of about 200 yards.  Also, my room was on the second floor, and there were no elevators  - I heard several other guests complain about being left on their own.  Although there was a concierge desk, it was never manned during my visits to the lobby, and the desk staff were not very well informed about the local attractions or restaurants.  Meals were adequate but expensive - use the many nearby restaurants instead. I also found the overnight parking fee a nuisance and unnecessary as the grounds were very spacious. All in all, a mixed experience.

Great Location, lovely facility

Fantastic location central to beach, downtown and Montecito activities. Nice facilities, lovely indoor/outdoor café/bar with two "fire-tables" for romantic evening sipping. Some amenities are aging and need to be upgraded but we understand that this is planned for the fall. Overall a great experience in a beautiful city!

For the Price.....I Expected More.

Cons: No free Internet, Noisy, parking fee
We stayed mid week through the weekend. Check in was great, our room was ready two hours before check in time and the desk clerk was friendly and helpful. We stayed in a ground floor garden view room. The room smelled musty but appeared clean, other than stained carpet. After airing out the room with the patio door open, it didn't smell as bad. The white bed comforters were also stained with small spots. Furniture was pretty dated. The mini-bar fridge was not cold. Our coffee maker didn't work, but we had it promptly replaced. The beds were super comfortable and the resort was quiet at night until the weekend hit. There were a few weddings and some rather loud guests above us so we used earplugs. The location was plus, being right across from the beach. We ate at the bar once, and waited over 45 minutes for the one waitress working (not her fault) to take our order due to all the wedding guests. The parking fee was ridiculous considering what we paid per night to stay there. When the weekend hit and the weddings were going on, we could barely find parking. No free internet as well. I wouldn't really call this place a resort. It's an older hotel that was probably really nice in it's prime, but now it's outdated and overpriced. We saw several other places that we should of stayed at and saved a lot of money. We will not be returning to this establishment, nor can I recommend it due to the value for your money.
