The thing that stood out to us was the staff and how well dressed and respectful and helpful they were also the care and ambience of the hotel was very luxurious. There is a whole other city below Toronto which we access from the Fairmont! The metro system was easy to use as well.

The lobby bar, ClockWork, is an excellent facility with a great vibe, pleasant staff and wonderful (expensive) drinks. Otherwise, the hotel is not a four or five star property and left a lot to be desired. Our Deluxe room was large but spartan - nothing on the walls, inadequate electrical outlets, and virtually no furniture, in particular no bureau or any kind of drawers for our clothing for our six day stay. At a hotel of this claimed calibre we should not have to live out of our suitcases. On Saturday night, there was a loud party in the adjacent room. No one answered the phone when we needed security to get it to stop. Had to get dressed and go down to the lobby to get someone's attention. This is not acceptable service for a hotel of this level.

My first time staying at the Royal York - for the most part I was very pleased with it. The only thing I was kind of disappointed to find was a pair of socks in one of the nightstand drawers. Other than that, it was a good stay! The Library Bar was a great place to go to.
