Three large pools and 'lazy river' feature let everyone find the kind of pool they enjoy...quiet, sports, swim up bar, kids etc

Surprisingly DISSAPOINTED

Cons: Nothing close, No free Internet
I recently returned from the Grand Sirenis where I went with my family. I found the hotel and grounds clean and well maintained, the food better than average. The grounds were being worked on constantly and all staff were friendly and there was no issues with bugs. We saw many iguanas and other wildlife while at the resort which the children loved. The resort is very big and walking is unavoidable. Shuttle service is offered on the resort, however, by the time the shuttle comes by, you would have made the ten to fifteen minute walk to wherever you were going. With two small children we would have made use of the service, however on at least 3 occasions the shuttle never came even though we waited 20 min. I don't mind walking, but withsmaller children, you may find yourself walking 20 min to get something you forgot in your room. So be prepared to walk about 2 hrs a day while at the resort. (25 min walk to the gym if you don't take the shuttle). On the other hand, the grounds are excellent for long evening walks for couples. The beach area is rocky, shoes a must. There is lots of coral to see right off the beach for snorkeling but don't expect to make use of the free snorkeling equipment. It seems they only have about 10 sets for the hotel, unless of course you pay for the tour. This goes same for pool and beach chairs, unless you are there at 8 am, you are not getting a chair, seems all the chairs are on the Premium Travellers side which was at least twice as large with a quarter of the guests. Drinks at the resort were ok. don't expect to get same tasting drinks from on ebar to the next as each bar made the same drinks noticeably diffrent, and beer was flat most of the time with the exception of the lobby bar. There was not enough staff, I found the wait for most things longer than most resorts I've been to and this is the only resort where I have not received a drink at all, on a number of occasions and this happaned to others as well. The bartenders and servers simply forgot, possibly from being overworked. It seemed that all service staff was running all the time, never had time to relax and strike up a conversation. Since the resort is so big, and all points of interest are far from one another, it was difficult to take advantage of the activities such as between athe pool and the beach. By the time we did one activity at the pool and got the kids together and made it to the other activity...we missed it, finally we just set ourselves in one spot. Also, don't waste your money on the La Mirage upgrade. We got it, it was no different from those that didn't get it and all i got was the run around from the transat and consierge when I asked for the bottle of tequila that was supposed to come with the booking. Never did get it in the end. Internet is not free, you have to pay $40 per week per device or $4 for half hour. Don't get caught or you may get a surprise at checkout. If you do go book your restaurants before you unpack. I recommend the Bayou, the Japanese and Brazilian restaurants. However, even though the resort was clean and food was good, and came recommended, this is the first resort I would not go to again.

property was basic. Not enough décor of the culture on the resort. Everything was about making money. The service at the bars and restaurants was very slow.Only if you tipped the bar tenders would you get better service. This is not typical in an all inclusive resort. The food was never at the correct temperature. The Beach was very dirty and smelled terrible. Would not recommend this resort. The Sirenes in Punta Cana is better resort

I liked everything about this resort from the beautifully rustic and natural environment to the kids area and restaurants. The gorgeous walking paths through the jungle with all kinds of animal life was spectacular. We will definitely be returning.

All of the bad reviews online were true--I had hoped that I would arrive and they would be people exaggerating. My husband and son were completely miserable to the point that I checking into pricing to send them home. The mattresses were awful, rooms are def separated by "members" vs those who booked with Travelocity etc. We were in old crappy part of the resort despite having paid around 7k for the trip. Everyone in the family suffered varying degrees of dysentery from the food. We were only able to swim in the ocean one day out of our 10 day stay. There was a big seaweed problem that they had workers removing with pitchforks all day so it was a very slow process to remove it. There are additional charges for everything and a lot of pressure to listing to their time share spiel "that is not a time share" we eventually gave in so they would quit bugging us. They charged 525 pesos for sunscreen on the resort. My husband felt it was kind of like a vacation prison as the staff really tries to control how you spend your vacation money--pushing hard to use their providers for excursions and oftentimes double the price of what Travelocity offers. The only bright point was our lovely concierge Dianna. She made sure we had our shuttle to the airport taken care of etc.. The bathroom--I must mention the bathroom--imagine a vacation with your family where most have digestive problems and there is not a true door to the bathroom---VERY UNPLEASANT--the shower broke the first da

Everything was perfect!

My only complaint is that I took time out of our first day to meet with a Travelocity rep and they never showed up. We all waited for over an hour. The Grand Sirinis staff and hotel was perfect and they took care of what Travelocity did not.

Not my idea of a perfect beach vacation.

Staff was very pleasant. However the lay out of the resort was a bit strange. I would have preferred viewing the beach from the dining areas rather than the social and dinging scene at the center of the resort. This must be geared toward parties that are more interested in drinking than the beautiful lacked.

Nice hotel with dive shop.

Snorkelling and diving were not the best. Water was too rough to snorkel 7 out of 8 days and so visibility for diving was not good. Hotel was very nice. Food was average. Expect to walk a lot. Saw monkeys in the trees on resort grounds near a cenote. Awesome sighting. Great pools and lazy river. Very friendly staff.
