We loved everything about Royalton Riviera except for the steakhouse. We liked all of the food that we tried but the ribeye steaks were thin, fatty and chewy. They also tasted like they were microwaved and not cooked over a flame.

I was very happy when booking this property because i booked a luxury suite with jacuzzi on the terrace. This is the only reason i booked this hotel. I arrived at the hotel at 7am. Was provided my room key bracelets and told to come back at 3pm because that’s when check in was. Which was understandable but being that i was already given my key bracelet i assumed all they had to do was clean my room and it was waiting for me. I come back during check in hours and was told my room wasn’t ready and to come back in an hour, when i come back in that hour my room still isn’t ready. So i then come back at 5pm and was told my room was given away. They told me they were going to upgrade my husband and I to a luxury suite on the all adult side. I did not want the suite because it wasn’t comparable to what i asked for. It didn’t have the jacuzzi and the supervisor told me that it did. It also smelled like mildew so bad and had mildew on all the mirrors. Tried to take a bath to relax but the water was yellow eeewwwww. So i complain about the supposed “upgrade” and they say they are going to accommodate me the following night to the room that i actually booked. I went down to front desk at 1pm the next day and they say the room isn’t ready. I had an excursion to go on so the room not being ready until 3pm was fine. We get back from the excursion around 6pm and was told that our room was given away AGAIN!!!! So we have to stay another night in the mildewed room. We were never accommodated.

this was our second stay at the Royalton. both of our visits were at the diamond club. The facilities this year compared to last year have declined. There has been a sewage odor that developed. There was mold, located in my room. They were unable to change my room. Otherwise, the service staff was very accommodating. food was still excellent. Pool facilities were clean and maintained.

The hotel staff is excellent, friendly and helpful, the hotel needs more maintenance attention in general, especially in the room that, although it was clean, had a strong musty smell, and old furniture, otherwise very good food and excellent service… Thank you

From the moment we arrived it was terrible. There was blood marks on our sheets and mold on the ceiling. We let our Concierge know and nothing was done about the issue. We tried to go eat at one of the restaurants where service and food was terrible. We went to Diamond Club Customer Service to try and get a resolution. It was an absolute nightmare to try and get a manager to speak with us, the front desk just kept saying call customer service line (that never answers). We finally spoke with the Manager who asked us to stay one more night so they could make the experience better. Nothing was done. The next morning we decided to check out due to the amount of issues we were having and go to another Hotel. Upon check out we were greeted by Claudia and Abel (customer service managers) who apologized sincerely for the trouble and agreed to give us a refund for the unused nights with out penalty. Since we went through a travel agent, the hotel must refund the travel agency first before they can refund me. I've emailed Abel & Claudia several times with no response and am now having to be responsible for a $1,200.00 stay that I did not use on top of the cost of the new hotel I had to find. Not to mention it is IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone to answer the phone at this resort. If you need to make a change or ask for help for any reason. I've been to Mexico around 20 times for vacation and this is by far the worst hotel and customer service I have ever experienced.
