"We were disappointed. The beach area is open, but no chairs and no amenities. There’s a big government sign by the resort pier that says closed for environment purposes. Staff told us it was closed for remodel, but in the nine nights we stayed we did not see any remodeling or construction. The dive shop was also closed.
The food was mediocre. I got a bad case of food poisoning after eating in the Thai restaurant and slept in the bathroom for two days. My spouse found a few necessities in the gift shop but they were overpriced and not included in the all inclusive fees ($5 per bottle of electro light drink, no sports drinks available).
It’s noisy. In the evenings after the main pool clears out they continue to play loud club music. Initially we were given a “free upgrade” to a larger room on the 2nd floor, however the first two floors do not have any ocean view so we opted back into our original basic ocean view room. 4th floor and higher are better views.
We stayed at this brand in Cancun for a long weekend and enjoyed it, but this resort in Cozumel is not as nice. There was mold in the showers. Lots of chipped paint, rust, rips/tears on decor.
They talked us into a 90 minute timeshare presentation to save on excursions & found the timeshare deal was substantially more expensive than booking through Travelocity. The atv & snorkel excursions are very fun. The staff was very nice & hospitable, though we would stay somewhere else in Cozumel next time.
