"Definitely an adult's only resort. Loud music on rooftop constantly playing but our room (3423) was well-insulated from it. We liked the staff, friendly and attentive.Of the 3 restaurants, we liked the Mexican the most. Rooftop pool was nice but not the beach, which is why we liked having access to the sister resorts, Reef Coco Beach and Reef Playacar. Reef Coco Beach has a smaller beach, but is walking distance to Reef 28 if you don't want to wait for the shuttle back. Reef Playacar, located in a more upscale part of town, has a nicer wider stretch of beach with beach volleyball games happening which I liked to join in. Just beware that you will be invited to a breakfast sales presentation on their vacation club but you will be well-conpensated for your time.
(Free tickets to Xel-Ha, couples massage on the beach, thalassotherapy session and a $30 gift certificate). Just be prepared to say no 3 times if vacation clubs are not for you. We stayed for 9 nights during spring break and it was busy at night walking along 5th Avenue, kind of like the Mexican version of the Vegas Strip. Reef 28 is just one street off (1st Ave), very close to the action and yet far enough that you can get away from it quickly. Very nice get away for couples, but being constantly solicited by vendors can get tiresome."
