Excellence Rivera Cancun is a beautiful resort with quiet outdoor areas to relax as well as swim up bar if you’re in the mood for a more social atmosphere. Fun daytime as well as evening activities. Friendly, accommodating staff. A fine selection of restaurants and bars. It was always easy to get a table, order food and top shelf drinks from the attentive waitstaff. The only downside was that the beachfront wasn’t very inviting in April due to algae which blows over the ocean from far away seasonally and ends up on Gulf of Mexico beach’s at that time of year. It would be worth the time to research and schedule a stay outside of that season. No matter if beach isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of pool space, lounge chairs, etc.

This was the original Excellence, so it is a bit dated. The staff was friendly and helpful. I am allergic to gluten, so there were limited options, especially desserts. The chef in the Excellence Club was outstanding and made GF French toast for me every morning. The spa was gorgeous.

Delightful and relaxing experience. Very clean place everywhere you look. Great food and lots of options that aren’t crowded. Staff is warm and welcoming. The pools, especially the lazy river are large!

Beautiful resort and wonderful staff. Italian restaurant closed most evenings. Comforter waaay too heavy for a bed but mattress was great and room was spotless. Beach needed cleanup and something had died near our back door. Probably an iguana since there were so many around the grounds. Overall, very nice.

This resort is beautiful, well appointed. Our room was spacious, clean and full of amenities. All of the food (except poolside) was exceptional quality. My disappointments is that they do not heat their hot tubs, any of them & they allow guests to save pool loungers & pool floats, so unless you get up & rush out of your room to get these, you are out of luck for the day.

The resort was beautiful and the grounds were meticulous. A pristine sandy beach. Once you are recognized as a previous customer who tips you get better attention. We were disappointed by the evening entertainment except for the beautiful evening spent listening to Claudia Trevino. We were rushed at the Spice Interactive restaurant but the chef was amazing.
