I'm writing an honest review because we were so disappointed with this hotel. We stood in line for more than 90 minutes trying to check in. The front desk staff were not very helpful. I was told I had two beds and I was traveling with friends, got to my room and it was one bed. I went back down to the desk and the guy's response was for me to get in line again if I wanted it fixed. The rooms and property are nice, the pool is maintained, they had daily activities and the beach was right there past the pool. I have a severe mango allergy and had a wristband on for allergies that the hotel was supposed to ask what I'm allergic to. Friday my strawberry daiquiri was cross contaminated with mango and I had a severe reaction. Three days later and I'm still covered in hives. The very worst experience was again, with the staff. I'm an RN and a guest fell and almost fractured her ankle. While I was caring for her I told the staff member she needed a doctor and I needed a first aid kit. She was in tears and his response to me if I wanted a doctor, leave her there and go to the front desk. Security was kind and brought me a large kit to stabilize her ankle and ice. The front desk/lobby staff and guest reservations employees all had a very similar unhelpful attitude. The bartenders and the pool:beach servers were wonderful. Security was also wonderful helping me handle her injury. The ferry to Isla Mujeres is next door and is a must see. 2.5 out if 5 stars for this place. Never again!

Our family of five really enjoyed our stay at Occidental Costa Cancun. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the 2 x 2 connecting rooms provided plenty of space for us. The Housekeeping staff were amazing and the shower towels and pool towels were of very generous size. We had the opportunity to eat at the Mexican and Italian sit down restaurants, but honestly really enjoyed the buffet the most. The quality of food was very good, and there were lots of different options, which included freshly prepared food for each meal. The pool was a highlight for our 10-year-old. It is very large and she had a lot of fun every day using it. Note that it is the only pool on the property. The beach was OK. There are plenty of lounge chairs, but they are mostly in the sun all morning and into mid afternoon, which makes them difficult to enjoy due to the heat. The beach area is also very small and has lots of rocks, making it difficult and painful to walk into the water barefoot. Also note that the resort is located in a very busy waterway area and we were often disturbed by the extremely loud music and engines of the pirate ships, jet skis, and ferry boats passing directly in front of the resort’s beach area. The resort provides kayaks free of charge and also offers jet ski rides for a reasonable price. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay, especially considering the reasonable price point for an all-inclusive resort.

You are limited in the number of nights you can book the restaurants and they dont tell you that when you book. You can eat at the buffet as often as you want, but the number of nights you can reserve the onsite restaurants depends on how long you are staying. Since we stayed 5 nights we were only allowed to book 2 nights in the nice restaurants. And to make it even worse, we could not book a reataurant on tje first night we were there as they were ALL booked! I was very disappointed and I think that it was very misleading that they dont make that clear when you book. When we checked in, there was a number of things that did not work in our room. The door key, the safe, the telephone, all did not work. The hot tub in the sauna was often dirty, and the water not hot at all. And the first day we were there the hot tub didn't work at all. The beach was is VERY small and was built on concrete!! It was basically an inch of sand on a concrete slab! And... there was no where to walk down the beach. The resort was separated from the long beach area by a waterway. In order to get to the long beach, you had to go out to the road and cross over the bridge! I do not recommend this resort.

Overall great stay for the price point! Bartenders and wait staff got to know you by name. Property was clean. Rooms slightly dated but clean. Food was average. Took three of our kids with us, the interconnecting room was perfect. Resort is on the small side, but this made it convenient to go back and forth to our rooms and have easy ability to have visual on our kids. We took pool float chairs and floated all day. 4 days was plenty.

I stayed 5 days at Occidental Costa Cancún All Inclusive. The hotel is very clean, and the staff is friendly and attentive. I found good variety at the buffet. Unfortunately, on the first day I made the mistake of using the only dinner reservation I was told I was entitled to, mainly because I arrived very tired and exhausted. Upon arrival at the front desk, someone approached me whom I initially thought was there simply to welcome me to the hotel. However, it turned out to be an attempt to sell me a timeshare package and convince me to visit another hotel property. This was very frustrating and felt like an abuse of my vacation time. The person talked for over 20 minutes, which made my arrival quite unpleasant. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff at the bar and restaurant were kind, and the service was good. I enjoyed my meals every day. The beach, however, was one of the weaker points for me. It is small and not very clean, and there is limited staff available. Do not expect beach service for drinks—you have to go to the bar yourself. The cocktails were not very good, and the drink variety was limited. Often, I had to ask for more alcohol to be added. In the evenings, they offer a traditional dance show, which is very nice. The dancers do a great job. However, there is no nightclub at night, so we had to take a taxi to go out. One thing we really liked is that the hotel is located right next to where the ferries depart to Isla Mujeres. The beach there is
There is only one jacuzzi, and surprisingly, we were not allowed to use it together as a couple, so we had to leave. That situation felt strange and uncomfortable.

Pros: Tasty and varied food, very friendly staff. Cons: The room is already a bit worn out; the sea is practically absent — just a small fenced-off shallow area; only one swimming pool. Under the pretext of a free introductory breakfast at the Occidental Tucancún hotel, we were subjected to a 2-hour timeshare membership sales presentation. There was also a “free” 3.5-hour sightseeing tour of Cancun, which would most likely turn into a pushy shopping tour, so we didn’t go.
