Find a cheap Hotel in Sandy Hill

"My husband and I were really disappointed with our 2 night stay in Ottawa Embassy Hotel. The check in and out was fast and well managed. The room looked clean and vast. The first problem started when we found out that there is no AC in the room! The AC controller on the wall was not even real. We asked the customer service and they explained that the AC is unfortunately central and because we are between 2 seasons the AC is still not running! So we had to keep our room window open at all time to change the stuffy air inside the room. Problem number 2 was that the fridge was absolutely empty! Not even some water bottles!! That was very surprising for me since I thought this is the basic of all hotel rooms that have a mini fridge and free water bottles available for guests! Also there was no safe box available in the room which was also a big disappointment to us! We had to carry our valuables with us every time we were leaving the hotel! That was ridiculous! I have never been into a hotel with no safe box in the room! The bed looked nice and clean but the pillows were high and the mattress was so uncomfortable that we couldn’t even get a good rest at night! The shower was very small and my husband who is 6.1ft couldn’t take a shower without hitting his elbows to the shampoo bottles on the wall and his head to the shower head! All said we won’t recommend this hotel to anyone. The building is very old. I was happy that the elevators were running!"

"The rooms were small as expected, but there were large gaps at the bottom of the doors which were only covered by bars, meaning you could see into the hallway, and everyone else could see into your room. This meant you could hear everything that went on in the hallways and in the other rooms, which was worsened by the amount of construction going on directly outside my room. While the construction was only during the day, they left all the equipment outside my door, which I tripped on at night. The fan and the lamp by the bed in the room did not work and there was only one outlet. The only positive thing about this experience was the jail history, of which there was hardly any if you didn’t take the jail tour, which was only once a day so if you have a short stay scheduling becomes very difficult. Definitely not worth the $130 for a single room that I paid."

"Put us in a. Room right beside a room under renovations, how thought of the hotel. If it wasn’t the on going construction it was the street noise. Terrible place, looks like a strip club and/ or casino. Staff unhelpful and rude"

"Clean room with a well appointed kitchenette. Two somewhat uncomfortable chairs face the TV and the bed faces the kitchenette. Made it terrible for watching tv. It’s Roku so no cable. This means no playoff games during playoff season. Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast (included) was continental but great variety. Wonderful location, easy to walk to many sites and restaurants. Parking at city hall is a good 10 min walk. Be sure to drop your luggage before going to park. "

"The lady at check-in was nice and helpful but the one at check out was not courteous at all. We had arranged for a later check out of noon and when we checked out a bit earlier at 11:30am she was not very nice and instead of asking us if we had a nice stay or at least make a friendly greeting, she said abruptly check out was at 11:00 so I told her we had a late check out as arranged by the previous person in the evening when we got in the night before. She did not apologize and said ok. By the way we checked in the first night late and went to bed but in morning when I jumped in the shower there were no towels! Not great and very disappointed!"

"Everyone involved with the hotel operation were so friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend if you’re in the downtown Ottawa area, make it a point to stay here."
