Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Apolo RoofTop Barcelona. It was very conveniently located to the Metro, to shopping and dining spots, and to all the events I was there to attend. The balcony patio was an enjoyable benefit. My only critiques are that the mattress on the sofa bed was too thin and soft for this old man's back and, due to the nature of construction, the shower was very difficult and hazardous to get in and out of (particular exiting the shower, with something like a 7-8" drop on the other side, and nowhere to put your weight on for support). I would still consider staying there again, because it was a good value, was clean, was well-located, and the hosts were a pleasure to work with.
The apartment is a tidy little space with a pull out sofabed that is very comfortable, though the metal rails on the sides of the bed are a bit uncomfortable if you try to sit on the sides. The kitchen is small but perfectly outfitted. Our host left us exactly the right number of coffee pods for the Nespresso machine which worked perfectly. The deck is the highlight of the apartment, looking over the rooftops at the Montjuic. It is a lovely spot to sit any time of day, but especially in the morning with coffee, or the evening as the moon rises and the lights go on on top of Montjuic. The bathroom is small and a little cramped, and it can be a little dicey getting into the shower, through the tiny space between the toilet and the wall, but it's doable and the shower is very good. We loved it. There is a great coffee/sandwich/pastry shop around the corner where we had breakfast daily. It was reasonably priced and the iberian ham, brie, tomato and lettuce sandwiches were wonderful. The coffee there is great too and everyone who works there is friendly. Really a great place to start your day. Also, the apartment is around the corner from the Funicular to Montjuic, as well as the major streets that lead to many major sites. We walked everywhere, but the public transport is right there and easy to access.
