Menu was disappointing. We ate elsewhere. The room was good and the staff also good. The reception had the back of computers facing the guest on arrival and was not giving a welcoming impression.

Unfortunately, staffing is a real issue here. Had dinner which was fine, but staff were pulled all over resulting in very little attenuation to table service. Breakfast was no different. Not 1 clean table to sit at and no staff available to clean it. This is a huge failure on management and putting staff in an unnecessary situation. The hotel is tiring, and the communal areas were cold. I was in room 101, right above reception and near the door to the other bedrooms. This door creaked horrendously, from 6am it was relentless with guests moving through the hotel. What surprised me was not one employee or maintenance worker thought of addressing it. It’s all about the finer details that makes a stay great.

Did the online check in but was still made to wait nearly an hour for our room, then we Got given a room with 2 beds which I didn’t book and didn’t really look good when it was a surprise for my wife but other than that the rest was nice, food was nice

Some great things about this hotel: excellent gym, one of the best massages I’ve had, super breakfast, spacious room. Some slightly less positive things: room was quite dusty, bed was a little small, and a real bench mark of a quality hotel for me - are the towels big and fluffy? They were not! The main negative for me though: we had an awful journey up the motorway, which was closed in both directions, meaning we missed our 20h30 table reservation for supper. We kept in touch with reception during our journey, and were told the kitchens would be shutting at 21hr (last orders at 20h45). We finally got there at 21:02, and were told we couldn’t have any food other than a somewhat limited sandwich or pizza room service selection. Honestly, we’d have thought there could have been a little bit of flexibility. We ended up getting a picnic from Sainsbury’s round the corner - not what we had envisaged for what was meant to be a special night. Overall, plenty of positives, but some bits and bobs that really let things down.
