The property owner never returned my call to get the access code to the front door from 5 days prior to my visit and only after I got Expedia to call her did I get a text from her saying she told Expedia that her place was vandalized and was closed for the summer. When I texted her back WHY SHE NEVER RESPONDED TO MY CALL but instead left me hanging I got no text response back. And Expedia is to blame too if her listing REMAINS UP
This was a first for me, I had never stayed in a B&B before. The breakfast was great. I did like you had an option of the room with a bathroom and one without. Iâm glad we picked the one with because on the second night someone was in the other room and they were noisy and dropping a lot of items on the floor and shutting the door loudly. I will not score this B&B low because itâs not their fault. This is a lovely place if you like B&B. Thanks for the experience.
As you can see, this is someoneâs house so one must accept their decor and amenities. I was comfortable after adjusting and more- so after meeting the caretaker, Jay, who was friendly, pleasant, and informative. The structure has been there for some time and could use a good remodel but nothing was rickety and the staircase and railings were solid. The bathrooms were clean and stocked, one modern and one âclassic.â There was good space in the fridge and some space in the freezer. It is not a âsmoothâ transition into someone elseâs home but give it some time and youâll adjust. Sorry I didnât take photos but the ones I saw online were pretty accurate. My wife wanted to go to a motel/hotel but she stayed grudgingly. We are not yet accustomed to the B&B experience.
Calais Crossing B&B is a nice little place to spend the night. We met a lovely woman from Boston at breakfast⊠And breakfast was very very nice. Comfortable bed and nice atmosphere. It is a little difficult to get ahold of people here⊠And that would be my only suggestion. I have somebody who can answer the phone⊠And answer questions more promptly. That said⊠We did get all the information we needed, and our stay was easy.
It was a nice location for visit to Moosehorn NWR
We were therefor hours!
The house is in great condition and we were comfortable. Breakfast was delicious.
Travel advice was helpful.
An old home but comfortable. The host was accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was very good. Road construction took away from ambiance. Easy walk to the downtown but not much going on
As much as Iâd like to be more positive, this place was a disappointment. The bed was so saggy that both of us rolled to the middle. The place is musty and probably needs the carpets removed. And with basic things like a bedside table or an outlet anywhere near the bed, itâs just not an easy place to stay. Add to that a shared bathroom and I cannot believe that I paid $156.
Despite otherâs excellent ratings, I cannot fully agree. Recognizing that it is bed & breakfast, the room was furnished like an antiquities flea market. It also felt like being treated by a stern boarding school task master: strictly no food in the room, towels into the hamper, breakfast at 8 am sharp. And a small, free-standing bathtub will all-enveloping shower curtain: you had to watch out carefully not to lose balance when showering - nothing to hold on to đ . Strange place from very yesteryear. The housekeeper was nice, though, and did her best with the breakfast.
