Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. Itâs a family-oriented beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! Itâs an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!
The home is in the heart of Carolina Beach and moderate walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach youâve got the boardwalk, restaurants, and local shops of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or party boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier complete with bait, tackles, and more! This home is a mixture of the original âperiodâ construction and old-world charm, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and todayâs technology because hey, thereâs got to be something for everyone! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics. Above all else, it should feel like your âhome away from homeâ while vacationing with us on our Island!
The entry to this 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath house opens into a newly furnished family room combined with an open dining area and fully equipped kitchen (stove oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is stocked will all the basic cooking and dining utensils one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, coffer maker and blender ready to help make yourself at home (while on Vacay!).
1 courtesy soap, shampoo and conditioner are left in the bathroom of each home as well as 2 rolls of TP per bath, 1 makeup wipe and one backup toothbrush. 1 roll of paper towel, a sponge, dish soap, 2 trash bags per receptacle and (*as applicable) 3 dishwasher and laundry pods will be available to use if needed!
The home's TWO QUEEN'S and ONE TWIN + TWIN bunk bed, ONE TWIN guest bed, and ONE TWIN futon chair consists of either a plush luxury mattress or a new encased 8â memory foam/cooling gel composition mattress because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge.
1 set of the following will be made on a per bed/per person basis to help you be comfortable on your adventure! Bed sheets (fitted/flat set), bath towels, wash cloths, cleaning rags, pillowcases, bathmats and kitchen towels. Laundering or extra sets are not an available service regrettably. Please make sure all used linens are placed in one location in the home at departure. Please let all BED LINENS remain on the beds for our TEAM to take care of! There is one smart TV in each suite to utilize one's personal subscriptions (such as Netflix or Hulu) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and enjoy some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Bring a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or another such casting device if looking to ensure all the tech comforts from home are available during your stay!
We equip each suite with its own combination of books, games, and misc. accessories to help cover the basis for our guests to enjoy themselves in rain or shine. Sometimes however, these items are removed from the suite and not replaced, and we do not always realize it (tsk tsk!). If you notice something weâve bragged about missing please let us know!
The outdoor shower is located on the lower right of the building to help get that sand off of those toes!
Neighborhood description
Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island. The building itself is one block away from the ocean, and one row in from the Intracoastal Waterway. The property is set seven blocks from downtown Carolina Beach with its shops, activities, and dining.
Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and vacationers all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun. We truly have an amazing community! Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesnât even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more relaxing and less âadventureâ is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!
Getting around
There isnât anywhere or anything on our Island that isnât accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has a number of vendors (such as Pleasure Island Rentals @ 2 N Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428 (golf carts) and Tony Silvagniâs Surf School @ 107 Charlotte ave Carolina Beach NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. Taxiâs (local golf cart taxiâs) and Uberâs are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!
After all, you wonât catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!
Guest access
The HOME: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a private deck. The back yard is shared by BOTH suites and should not be used for pets to run loose unattended at any time. Proper pet etiquette and owner responsibility should be followed at all times!
PARKING: Each guest will have access to (2) TWO 8'x14' assigned parking spaces.

I will be available for check-in and general assistance until 8PM EST. Anything with the exception of an emergency (ie. flood, fire, or another *safety* related risk sent to Maintenance) will be responded to ASAP the following day :)

Carolina Beach
The Town of Carolina Beach offers multiple public parking options to visitors and residents on a FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE basis. Town-operated parking is open year round and paid parking is enforced March 1st - October 31st from 9AM - 8PM. Parking fees restart each morning during enforcement hours for all of the Town's parking lots and on-street parking spaces.

Kure Beach
Parking is enforced March 15 â Sept. 30 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking rates are $5 per hour. Visitors may purchase a day pass for $20, weekly pass for $100 or full season pass for $225.
GOLF CARTS
âąTo the county, golf carts are considered automobiles. Generally speaking, golf carts are NOT allowed on premises of ANY condo, condotel, or apartment. The same goes for trailers, motorcycles, etc. For SFRâs or properties supporting multiple vehicles, carts should be OK. However, be conscious that few homes have external outlets WITHOUT GFCIâS (which are code by todayâs standards). Charging a cart on a GFCI will immediately trip the breaker, resulting in the inability to charge a cart amongst other repercussions. Needs deep cleaning especially under beds and tables. Musty smell in queen bed area. Not 1 and a half bath itâs only one bathroom broken up into a shower in one place and toilet and sink in another area. Works ok but not what we thought based on listing.
This property was amazing and very convenient. Very close walking distance to beach & to town/boardwalk. Washer and dryer was convenient to have. We can't wait to take another family vacation and stay here again. Thank you!!
If your tall dont bother. Unfortunately my boys are 6ft and day beds don't cut it. This was an ok place. Just here to sleep. Bugs were gross but i guess everyone has them. Fees are high and not included in the orig total. And theres a bit of slight of hand with thos owner. You can pay a non refundable amount or a "maybe refundable" precharged ridiculous security deposit.
Literally less than 5min (block and a half-you can see the beach entrance from the deck) walk to the beach which is great because paid parking in Carolina Beach is a little pricey. Super clean and cute! So many neat things in just a short drive too- oak island lighthouse- downtown wilmington. Miss it already!
We had a great time at this rental, not too bad a walk to the beach. The back fenced yard was great for our dog. My only reason for the 4 instead of 5 star rating was because the pictures on the listing changed the day before our check-in, it was much more bare bones than I had anticipated. An area rug in the living room would have been nice to make it homier.
Was easy to get a reservation. The only thing I could say, which isn't a negative was an area carpet for our 10 month old would of helped with noise control and maybe one more mirror in the place for multiple women sharing space. Otherwise it is a great price for the convenience to the beach and assorted entertaining venues. Thanks, Dale
This was a perfect place for us. My kids walked one block to the beach with our surfboards every day. It's yard was great for the dogs to have some out door time. And the place was nicely furnished and the appliances we are all in nice shape. We had a great vacation and the deck had an awesome view during the firework displays by the neighbors. Great place to stay.
This apartment was very clean. Had plenty of room. Both bedrooms were very spacious and the mattresses were very comfy. Really liked the shower being separate from the actual bathroom. My only complaint was the stairs going up to the apartment was very dark at night. I think a light on the stairs would be helpful. We enjoyed staying here and hope to stay here again.
The property is close by to alot of things to do and places to shop. Fyi parts the street its on tend to flood at high tide a little.. It was clean and well maintained and had all the basic essentials need to cook and eat with including supplies to wash dishes with.. Although I would advise buying a better quality dosh sponge exspecially if staying more than a day or two.. It had some games/books which is awsome exspecially of the weather is bad. Overall it was a great rental for vacation..

The rental is in a great location- two blocks from the beach! It had all the necessities, was super easy to get in, and Dale was super responsive. Great bargain for the price!
We had a nice stay in Carolina Beach and really enjoyed the location of this rental. It was a quick walk to the beach and and easy drive to everywhere on the island.
I can't give it 5 stars though because of 2 things, the noise and the bathroom. The house is adorable but an older property, meaning that the windows are very old and it sounded like all of the windows were open and we could hear every sound on the block, day and night. And the listing said 1 bathroom, but really it was a powder room with a separate shower in the laundry room. It was a challenging set-up for our family, especially since we couldn't find the outdoor shower that was mentioned. I just wish that the bathroom situation had been explained in the listing, as it may have led me to select a different rental.
Otherwise we had a great time and really enjoyed our vacation!
