The South Loop is such a dynamic mix of attractions and histories that the neighborhood tends to be seen as many different things to many different people. Consider the assorted areas that comprise the South Loop:
Much of its eastern edge is encompassed by the Museum Campus, an impressive collection of cultural treasures that includes the Field Museum, Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium. This campus sits on scenic lakefront parklands that are an extension of Grant Park. With 319 acres of green space and recreational fields, Grant Park is known as `Chicago`s front yard` to locals and also plays host to major city events such as Taste of Chicago, Chicago Blues Festival and Lollapalooza.
Jutting out further into Lake Michigan is Northerly Island, a peninsula sought out by nature lovers, while along the southern edge the sports fans know Soldier Field as the stadium for the beloved Chicago Bears football team. Meeting attendees are most familiar with McCormick Place, the largest convention center in the country, which is also in the immediate area.
And yet there are even more facets to the South Loop. History buffs point out the Motor Row District along South Michigan Avenue and nearby Prairie Avenue District, the `Millionaire`s Row` that was lined with mansions belonging to Chicago`s most wealthy elite during the end of the 19th century.
In the adjacent Printer`s Row neighborhood, urban loft condos now fill the commercial spaces in what was formerly the center of the Midwest`s publishing industry. Connections to this past are still seen within the venerable, independent book store and annual summer lit fest here. But business professionals and students have brought new life and redevelopment (though the vibe remains mellow), filling the restaurants, music clubs, smaller theaters and museums that have all established themselves in the community.
You are only a 1 block away from the Green, Red, and Orange `L` subway stop, which gets you virtually everywhere in the City. You are also a short walk to a number of restaurants and attractions

Hosts were fantastic with communication. Property was very clean and comfortable. Location was ideal - with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Perhaps the top compliment I can give: Would stay here again for sure!
The condo was great- wonderful location, well appointed, the owners were always available the there were clear directions for everything we needed. Would definitely recommend.
It was amazing for our first time in Chicago! The property was clean and comfortable! It boasts an amazing view too! The host was always at the ready, responding quickly !!
The property was the perfect location for the Bears vs Giants. We enjoyed walking and exploring as well as the dining. The train was the most useful transportation around the city. We had zero needs at the apartment and it has a great view of the city. The hosts were above and beyond. I had questions, and they were quick to reply. We were so thankful we found this property.
JW and Mary and the Chicago Hospitality club were outstanding. The sent us a lot of information to help us prepare for our trip: transportation, restaurants, and activities. We tended to follow all their suggestions and were not disappointed. We masted both the metro and bus systems without issueThe condo was comfortable, very clean, well decorated and we really enjoyed having the extra space to relax at the end of the day. There was a guard at the entrance to the building so we felt safe coming in at nigh. Best of all was the -location-location-location. Roosevelt Station was a block away and there was also a bus stop right outside the condo door. Trader Joes was one block from the rental. We would recommend this Condo to our friends and if we ever come to Chicago again we will certainty use MICH AVE #23 as our home base.
Our family of 4 stayed here 6 nights and would stay again if we returned to the city. The view was spectacular and the convenience of being so close to public transportation and a Trader Joeâs made it easy to stock up on necessities for our stay.
This property is perfect for a weekend getaway. Location was perfect - CTA station one block away, grocery stores across the street. Grant Park right outside the front doors! The attached public parking garage provided direct and easy access for hard to find parking in Chicago. The hosts graciously provided a link so that we could pay resident prices for parking. Very easy to use! Permanent residents of the building are friendly and always had a smile and âhelloâ. We would definitely stay here again for our next Chicago getaway!
We had a great trip to Chicago! The apartment is very easy to find and access by train is easy, easy. The view is amazing, especially during a thunder storm. It is a large space for a city apartment. We had our three teenage children and felt like there was tv e perfect size for a week. Close to grocery stores and restaurants as well as many site seeing locations. We found it to stocked adequately for fixing meals and were pleasantly surprised with coffee pods and fixings provided. Thanks for a great stay!
The place was great for 2 couples with the 2 bed 2 bath. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for the 4 of us. The sofa wasn't very comforable but that would be the only negative. The view was spectacular and the location was near public transportation so it was easy to access the many tourist attractions. We didn't have a vehicle so we bought a 7 day pass for the buses and trains when we arrived at the airport. Having a grocery store and Trader Joes around the corner were very convenient to buy food to cook and save some money. The hosts were very responsive to my many questions and helpful with recommendations. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Chicago.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The condo was clean, the beds were comfortable and everything we needed was available. The owners were very communicative, friendly and helpful. The view was amazing, especially at sunset.
The location of this property cannot be beat. At the corner of Roosevelt and Michigan, there is access to Red, Orange, and Green line trains, plus access to multiple bus routes to all of the museums and must-see attractions. You also have great views of Willis Tower and Lake Michigan.
The check-in procedure is as easy as obtaining the keys from the lock box on the first floor. There is no waiting or dealing with a registration desk.
The apartment itself is clean and spacious. The owners provide plenty of cleaning supplies such as hand and dish soap, dishwasher tablets, garbage bags. The beds are very comfortable.
The only issue we had was with the water temperature in the master bath, where the shower would change from hot to freezing cold with no warning. Spacing out showers seemed to help. This is probably due to the building's age rather than anything specific to the apartment.
The only other thing to be aware of is that the second bedroom does not have an air conditioning unit. The owners do provide fans, so it was not a major issue for my kids to stay there. However, for adults it may be something to consider. There are blackout shades in this room (but none in the master bedroom which is strange).
The apartment was very clean, quiet, and cool. We were there during a period of very hot temps and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The location was excellent.
Overall, our stay was great and the location was perfect. We wanted to do something special with our daughter who was turning 2, so we took her to the Children's Museum and Shedd Aquarium. Everything we needed was either a few minute drive or walking distance from the apartment. The only negatives were the rooftop patio - the grills weren't working properly so we couldn't grill out like we wanted. Parking was an issue, but I had a feeling it would be. We were charged $70 per day in the lot attached to the building. I can't complain too much there though, we could have tried to find something cheaper but with a 2 year old, it seemed worth it to just park there and be done with it. Overall, it was a great trip and I'd recomend the place to anyone looking to enjoy Navy Pier and the lakeshore.
It is a 3 overall and not for the place but the owners.
5 stars: great part of town, very convenient building, easy access, walk everywhere, park, lake, dining options, etc. super-comfy king beds, perfect 2/2 space for me and my adult son.
1 star: owner communication. Wi-Fi didnât work from the very beginning. Even though we were there for holiday, I needed to do meetings, and my son needed to finish college assignments. Contacted owners immediately. Got a few insulting responses, such as is your equipment plugged in. Afterwards got an alternative Wi-Fi connect, from six floors away in a high rise building, it worked for minutes and then would fall off. After that, silence with owners. I tried to call, the number listed is NOT IN SERVICE. I also asked them to call me, which they never did. The next morning, after hotspotting my meetings off my phone, I called Vrbo. They also could not get in touch with the owners, they were supposed to call me back, and never did either. Then both owners and the Vrbo kept sending me feel good messages as to how wonderful they hoped my stay was and if I had any issues at allâŠ
We did have a really good time, the apartment is great, however, I am a VRBO and other rental owner myself. You donât ignore your guests. Period.
