Open concept with updated kitchen,3 bath so no waiting 4 this onemale. Hottub was used every day (one week stay). The one and only quibble was the TV reception, provided by Shaw, as ot had a wonky Pvr receiver, which cut out, several times, not even allowing access to the PVR menu.

Very comfortable
This is a well-appointed property that has just about anything you need for cooking or relaxing. It is about a 30 minute drive to Victoria activities, and about an hour to/from the airport. (My gps kept wanting me to take the ferry, but it is just as convenient, if not more, to drive around.) We enjoyed the fantastic Cowichan Bay restaurants, and there are some great winery options very close. We had a wonderful week.

Perfect Family Vacation House
We recently stayed at the House in Cobble Hill on Vancouver Island. We've been a user of VRBO properties since 2007, and this one definitely met our expectations. Our family had a wonderful time. Thank you for allowing us to stay and making it friendly for our dog as well. We would stay here again if in the area and definitely recommend for future guests.

Fabulous place to stay while visiting family in Duncan
This property was, hands-down, once of the best places that we've every stayed in the Cowichan Valley and we can only hope that it will be available for future stays/visits! Tons of space for our family of 4. Our boys (9 and 11) loved the chance to travel and still have their own bedrooms (rare due to cost)! There's a fabulous kitchen with everything you could want; quiet neighbourhood with lovely backyard space for kids to play and adults to relax in the evening; clean and new hot tub for relaxing at night; plenty of bathrooms for everyone to get ready together; and 2 living room areas so kids and adults can each relax in their own space when needed. Location is fantastic as it's within walking distance to a plaza that literally has everything you need: large grocery store, liquor store, pharmacy, 2-3 restaurants, killer coffee shop (Drumroasters), and the cutest little meat/cheese shop (that for $30 will make a charcuterie snack box for you to take home.... yum!). Property is managed by EMR vacations which did mean we had to do a little bit of extra paperwork from the management company. Though this was fairly easy to do online and not onerous as other reviewers have suggested. All in all, a fabulous place and would 100% love to stay there again for future family trips.

Not worth the hassle
I booked through VRBO but then had to deal with EMR rentals which I will never do again. They made us complete more rental agreements and list the names and address and ages of everyone that stayed. We had to complete multiple forms where they asked for credit card information. I paid with a credit card then they sent a note to e- transfer the money. They made me feel like a criminal that was going to not be respectful of the property. I have 5/5 ratings. Also, the central air was not great in the bedrooms. The hot tub had so much chemicals it burnt your eyes trying to just sit in it. Would not stay again. Will never rent a place where EMR is involved

Shawnigan Lake visit
The property was perfect. It was clean and large enough for 4 adults and 2 children. It also had lots of space inside and out. It was close to the highway with easy access to any and all areas. If and when we go back to the island and need somewhere to stay, this will definitely be our choice.

5 night stay
Arrived on a Tue at 5pm. House is yellow, not red as in photo. Greeter arrived shortly after. He was curt, and seemed in a hurry. The grounds were unkempt with very long grass, and debris. In the carport, evidence of recycled materials, over-full bins of empty glass, liquor, and wine bottles. Inside of home was not 'hotel ready'. After a quick inspection we asked for hot tub towels, T-towels, and dishwasher pods. we gave the greeter a handful of debris picked up from the kitchen floor. Parts of fridge interior were dirty, spoon rest was dirty, coffee pot contained old grounds, and kitchen compost bin was 2/3 full. Found a wad of black hair sitting on top of the shower drain in the master bathroom. The bathrooms were minimally equipped with 2 bath towels, 1 facecloth, and 1 hand towel for 4 adults and a child. Only 2 bathrooms had guest size mini shampoo + conditioner. Liquid hand soap was available in all bathrooms and kitchen. No additional linens or bedding items were made available. No coasters for drinks. Living areas are spacious. The stuffed monkey and rocking swan was a nice surprise for the toddler. Kitchen space is very nice and equipped with utensils, cutlery and dishware. No food items other than salt and pepper are provided. 2 of 3 bedrooms are small. Room for a bed, 1 night table, lamp and small dresser. One room has the dresser in the closet. The travel playpen was a tight fit. The bedroom shades/blinds are attractive but are not conducive to sleep after sunrise. TV ok, nice variety of channels, BBQ ok, Hot Tub ok. The pond water is very green. There was sufficient seating outdoors. On Thurs pm a fellow arrived to cut the grass and removed some of the branches/garden debris There is a plaza with a grocery and liquor store nearby. The location is quiet and rural. We would consider staying again with a few improvements. The cleaning fee is to high for the condition of the home. Better staging and notes on where things are stored, and what's off limits would be helpful. The 5pm check in and 10am check out seems a bit stingy.

make sure you check the booking fine print!!!!
We loved the property but we found the managing agent very disappointing to deal with. I made the booking and payment for a group of 6 friends. I came down with a cold the day before we were due to travel and when I reached out to the agent to let them know that I would not be going and another member of the group would be there to meet them for the check in process I was informed that if I was not present they would not let anyone else from our group stay (even though they had the names and address from everyone else in our party). Exasperated as there was no flexibility we then asked if they would let us transfer the booking to another member of the group and even offered to re-process the payment on a different credit card but they said no, the only way they would let the group still go without me is if we forfeited our original payment and then rebooked and paid twice for the stay. There was zero flexibility on their behalf which seems out of touch considering the times. We were not making any changes to the original group apart from the fact I was not going to be able to make it due to sickness. It added a lot of stress to the trip which just seemed like unnecessary red tape.
