Oceanfront Bluff Home - Whale Watching, Redwoods, Wood Stove & Pet Friendly

Welcome to Sunset Sanctuary — a coastal retreat designed to calm the mind and recharge the spirit. Perched above the Pacific on the Crescent City bluffs, this is a place where the ocean is never out of sight or earshot.

Light a fire in the wood stove, pour something warm, and watch the sun melt into the sea from the deck. Gray Whales migrate past seasonally, and Pilot Whales cruise these waters year-round — keep your eyes on the horizon.

Beach access is just a block away, where a short walk leads down to Preston Island — a dramatic rocky shoreline with sandy stretches perfect for a stroll with your pet (who we’re always happy to welcome). For swimming and surfing, Crescent Beach is a easy 5-minute drive.

The old-growth redwoods of Jedediah Smith are 30 minutes inland. The harbor, restaurants, coffee, and everything else you’ll need are within 10 minutes. And when the day is done, the wood stove, the sound of the waves, and a sky full of stars will be waiting for you.

One more thing — you’ll notice a vintage Airstream parked on the property. She’s stationary and being lovingly restored as an optional guest add-on launching Autumn 2026. Something special is coming.

This house and location are wonderful. I could have sat on the patio and looked at the ocean the entire trip. It’s very dog friendly. Communication with the host was great. The master bedroom is on the main level so that was great for us. I really hope to go back.

We loved staying at Sunset Sanctuary. The home was well stocked with everything we could need from kitchen dishes, pots and pans to beach towels. There is an amazing coastal view from the back patio and also from the comfortable living room. The beds were comfortable, the house was clean and communication with the host was quick and easy. Our family is STILL talking about how amazing this property was! The view is absolutely stunning! Inside was cute and functional, and CLEAN! It had everything we needed and located close to the beaches. We would definitely stay here again. The attached pictures were taken from the deck.
