The trash and boxes on the front porch were an immediate turn-off. Once inside, the living room and rest of the house were blocked off. An open stairwell led to the upstairs rooms. The area under the stairs was packed solidly with junk. There was a small area with mugs and a Japanese machine that kept water hot. When I picked up a mug to make tea, there were dust bunnies and cobwebs in the cup. I tried a different mug, but when my tea was made, there was a greasy film on top of the tea. The room was full of cobwebs. There were crumbs on the desk in the room. There was balcony, but it had buckets of cigarette butts and two rusty desk chairs for patio furniture. But the final straw for me was the used bandage in the shower. I informed the host that I could not stay the remaining three days of my reservation due to the lack of cleanliness, but he charged me for the entire time.

This property was basically a receptacle for mountains of junk. Our room was not clean—crumbs on many surfaces, cobwebs everywhere, coffee cups filthy (one had cobwebs and dust bunnies and another had a greasy film rise to the surface when water was added to make tea). There was a used bandage left in the shower along with shower shoes. Another pair was in a basket outside the shower, so the pair in the shower had been used and left there. The scant towels (no washcloths) felt like they’d been in fabric softener without being rinsed—zero absorbency. It had been advertised as a bed and breakfast, but no breakfast was served. There wasn’t even coffee served. Under the stairwell up to our room was filled to the stairs with stuff. The front of the building had boxes and piles of trash. The patio outside our room had two rusty desk chairs for furniture. We packed up and got out as soon as we got up. Informed the owner and asked repeatedly to be charged for only one night. He never responded. I informed him that I would post a review with photos if he did not refund me for the other three nights of the reservation and gave him 48 hours to respond.

Never got to stay

We arrived and called to see if we could check in a bit early. They said cleaners were there and to hang out they would let us know. There was no one there and we never got a call back. It was super creepy and odd there. Would not recommend. We lost our money and had to get another place that night.

My husband really wanted to stay in a cabin so we did but for me it's too secluded. I didn't sleep well due to not knowing what was going on outside but that's me. He had a great time. He's a country boy and I'm a city girl. If you want the country feel this is the place to be.

The cabin was adorable with an easy check in. Very close to the redwoods, giving us ample opportunity to explore. Would certainly stay here again.

The road to the property was gravel, dirt, one lane and had many potholes. The manager was extremely rude. This place was very creepy and scary. We refused to stay there.

Wont stay here again

There is a reason no photos are on the Hotels.com website. Dirty, cobwebs, spiders, carpets were large throw rugs put together and NOT vacuumed. We will not stay here again.

We truly appreciated the spaciousness and quirky character of our room. Having a private washroom and shower was a definite plus—though the bathroom did have a few less-than-charming surprises. The shower had a fair amount of mold, and the sink appeared to be clogged with what could only be described as the remnants of someone’s entire beard. Not exactly the kind of souvenir one hopes to find upon check-in. Our booking was through Expedia, which stated we’d receive a door code or entry instructions on the day of arrival. With check-in listed between 4:00 p.m. and midnight, we expected clear directions. However, by 7:00 p.m., with still no information, we called the property owner and were told to “just walk in and look for our name on the door.” While functional, this method felt a bit unconventional—especially as we made our way down a dark, wooded dirt road, convincing ourselves this wasn’t the beginning of a horror movie. Once inside, the home was warm and “homie,” with the dĂ©cor bordering on museum-like thanks to the abundance of trinkets (including a vintage child’s crib, which added both charm and a touch of eeriness). Overall, this property isn’t a bad choice. It’s quirky, adventurous, and better suited to younger couples, road trippers, or backpackers looking for a unique story to tell along the way.

Things you should know before going in (it threw us off): -you won’t meet the host. It’s kind of like an Airbnb but you don’t check in through an app or anything. -it’s a single lane dirt road coming in and out -if you stay in the room with a patio, make sure to find the key to the patio door. We couldn’t find it until we left -it’s a rustic little thing. Kind of like staying at your grandmas house. There’s some spider webs, rust, weird smells, creepy corners, and best of all, there’s a rooster that wakes you up at 4am. The weird smell came from the shower which smelled kinda of moldy. -you’re sharing the top floor with 2 other parties. No access to the first floor Overall, it was okay for our one night stay. The view in the morning was beautiful and it smelled SO GOOD. That was the highlight of the whole stay.
