The home was cute.the view of the lake was lovely, even with the weather. The home had a mouse problem. After cooking dinner one night a mouse popped its head out of the vent of the stove....the bathroom had another large mouse that would visit during our showers.
I lived on the west shore for 15 years before 2000. I knew the magic of the lake in Spring, before the schools were out and the motorboats roared past. The road was narrow and crowded, and summer folk found their camps again. Friends found peace and quiet away from the city of Syracuse. Quilting was done, and meals could have been obtained in the town.
We were very happy with our stay. The host is very responsive, nice, and easy. The neighboring towns are cute and fun and thereâs plenty of nice spots to eat at.
Marc was easy and responsive in our communications. The lake is beautiful! Property was very clean. There are very steep stairs leading up to the apartment/house. It would be helpful to leave a welcome binder with wi-fi, TV information, kayak rentals and things do do around town. Overall Good enjoyed my stay there.
Definitely not worth the cost. Grill didn't work properly had to move the propane tank to a 2nd grill. The toilet didn't flush properly. No picnic table. Couch was inadequate in living area. Definitely not able to accommodate 4 people. Refrigerator didn't work properly. Only 1 entrance/ exit. A fire hazard. Pictures on site are not up to date with how the place looks. Very unsatisfied. Will not recommend
Nice facility. Completely re-done recently. a bit awkward layout but nicely appointed. Had a few minor issues that were taken care of immediately A good choice for a quiet stay in the country
The property is not waterfront, and I am not sure that it had access to the lake across the street, but the time of year kept that from being a problem. The area was pretty empty and quiet. The property had some work going on with some debris around. Inside had some work going on as well. No curtains would be a big problem had there been neighbors around, but since there weren't any, it worked out fine. The place hadn't been cleaned very well. There were dead flies on almost every windowsill. The entryway had a lot of dirt in it when we arrived, due to rain/wet shoes going up and down the stairs. There was also some shoe debris throughout the cabin. Not a big deal but having to pay an additional fee for dogs made the impression that this wouldn't have been the way that we found it. It wasn't horrible by any means. To be honest, with the wet ground outside, it made it more comfortable to go up and down. Made it feel like a lake cabin. The owner was contacted once when we arrived and again when we were leaving. Besides him asking once if we were good, we were left alone and really felt comfortable there.
Mark was super accommodating and easy to deal with. The Bungalow was perfect for our needs!! I would recommend to anyone looking to escape to a beautiful setting on DeRuyter Lake.
We were looking for quiet (off season stay), water front, near hiking and apple groves which this places hits all. Small heads up if you have toddler paraphernalia there are about 16 steps up to the door and there isnât a landing so it makes it a tad tricky. The level of cleanliness when we checked in was top notch!! Overall was great and would return.
The place was roomy and up to date but several minor issues that added up to just an average experience. The apartment is above the garage, across from the main house. The lake front was available, but the lake has been lowered by 10' feet for repairs to the dam. The stairs up to the apartment was 16 shallow steps without a landing which made it difficult to navigate up and down with luggage and packages. The exhaust fan for the stove is not working, several light bulbs were out or missing. Half of the cable stations were not working and and the thermostat for the heater was not connected.
