It’s a Treehouse! With AC

Welcome to the Treehouse! We built this ourselves with lots of love! It’s fully insulated, has heat/AC, running water (water might be off in freezing temps, but there are functional work arounds ), full bathroom, TV, kitchenette, loft beds. There’s even a BBQ (propane), Fire pit sitting area, big slide and of course a treehouse pulley bucket!
It’s situated on the edge of town so you get the calm relaxing experience of waking up in a tree, but with the convenience of being close to all downtown Des Moines has to offer. Also just 3 min from Altoona (Walmart, Target, Adventureland)

*in the event of snow or rain, it’s highly advisable to come in a vehicle with 4 wheel drive to access parking.

Self check in is not permitted at this property due to safety reasons.

We host this together, so one or both of us will check you in; please send your ETA at least 4 hours prior to arrival.

Cute and an experience but some work needs to be done
Adorable treehouse. It’s a little scrappy so if you like amenities go elsewhere. It’s pretty exagerated on the descriptions of the site. The 2 rooms is actually just one. Safety may be a concern for less athletic people. 1 towel for two people. You can’t shower because the shower leaks as does toilet. No pods for the Kurig. No microwave. Seems like the owners rented their kids treehouse for some money but didn’t want to. I didn’t feel all that welcomed. But it was cute.

The unit was clean. Issues with back road when entering because of construction but was not owners fault. The treehouse is on the owners property, sits in the back but we still felt like we were camping in their back yard. There are dogs on the property. Bring lawn chairs for around the fire. We did not stay the night. The owner did refund a % of our rental fee.

We had seen other a tree House VRBOs and wanted to give this a try. We came when it was extremely hot and the owners added another AC unit to try and keep the tree house cool. It worked. It’s a tiny house in a tree.

Horrible Attitude from property owners and being made to feel like I should have been charged more.
There was a flood in the treehouse, from the tankless water heater, at 2am. I had no luck calling, texting or emailing the property owners. I end up going up to the relatives home at 2am to alert them to the water situation and the water pouring out of the house. The relative was super nice. They shut the water completely off to the treehouse and I then had to I drive back home and end the trip only 6 hours after I arrived. It was 3am before I was home. The message the next day was over the refund she was reluctant to give me. She refunded me only $175 out of $230, saying that the refund was more than generous and that she should have charged me more pet fee claiming I left dog hair on the floor. The problem with that comment was that I actually vacuumed and cleaned the place with cleaning supplies, I brought, so that I could leave the place better than I received it. The comment came after the reluctant partial refund. I asked how there was dog hair on the floor when the floors were flooded and covered in water and from there the communication escalated. I was disappointed the most in how this property owner handled her communication with me. After the reluctant refund she chose to lash out at me and make snarky comments about how she should have charging me more pet fee than the agreed amount. This property owner failed to realize how the flooding affected my stay and ended my vacation early and she lashed out in anger at me after the partial refund was given.
