'SERENDIPITY' Charming 2-bedroom cottage in lovely Domfront en Poiraie with WiFi
Surrounded by 'green' and nature. Looking for peace and quiet and a sense of isolation in a charming, modernised house 'SERENDIPITĂ' is for you. Situated on a rural lane officially known as 'LE MARAIS DE ROUELLĂ' it is the last house in the village and the first on an ancient countryside trail, dating back to the 11th century. Standing alone on the lane with a large, semi-circular, ornate front garden a couple of strides away with a larger garden at the rear. Comfortable, cosy and welcoming. The space All the rooms have been modernised but the house still retains it's 'bygone era' charm.
The lounge has 3 seater and 2 seater settees that form their own space around the fireplace and the television. The original oak stairs are in the corner of the room and underneath them there are coat hooks and a shoe cupboard. The dining area is on the other side of the lounge and has a large dining table with 4 matching, ornate chairs. The kitchen is accessed from the lounge (through a door) and is fully equipped with everything you need if you have gastronomic tendencies. There is a utility room through another door off the kitchen which has a toilet and hand basin, washing machine and drying facilities. There are 2 good sized bedrooms upstairs (with double beds which are bright and airy. They both have wardrobes, chest of drawers and bedside cupboards with pretty lamps. The bedrooms share a 'Jack & Jill' shower room with toilet and washbasin.
Our stay was quite nice. The grounds were park-like, it was pitch black at night and completely quiet. The house was lovingly decorated and the kitchen was well-appointed. There were only a few minor problems. For example, there were no folding luggage supports. Light in downstairs bathroom to dim to shave by. Wished for modernized recycling instructions & an option for composting. The smallest sink in the world in the upstairs bath. Memory foam mattresses. Great stay, overall.
The property was exactly as described and we had everything and more than we expected. The generosity of the owners to have left so much was greatly appreciated. The peace was wonderful. Had I been able I would have done the mowing as the grass was getting quite long.
We had a wonderful stay at Serendipity in southwest Normandy. The house was absolutely spotless, beautifully decorated, and full of character. The peaceful gardens were a delight to wake up to and made for a relaxing place to unwind after sightseeing. The location couldnât have been betterâwithin easy reach of Mont St Michel, the Normandy beaches, and historic Bayeux. Domfront, the nearest town, had everything we needed including a supermarket and a cafe right in the middle of town overlooking the medieval city walls. Donât miss a visit to the nearby village of Lonlay-lâAbbayeâboth picturesque and home to the delightful Biscuiterie de LâAbbaye, where we stocked up on treats.Mike and Lyn were exceptional hosts, greeting us warmly with local cider and fresh milk for that much-needed cup of tea after our drive from Paris. Their hospitality truly made the stay even more special.Highly recommendedâwe would return in a heartbeat!
