The gentleman checking me in was friendly. The room was nice but there was no heat turned on when I arrived. It took a bit to get warm. It's northern Ky in the dead of winter with snow on the ground. That was expected. The hotel lobby was under heavy construction. They offer breakfast but it's not worth moving through the clutter. Ice machine and soda machine were unplugged/not working. I would stay again if everything was back in order.

I chose Microtel for the low price since I was asked to plan a trip for my church group and needed it to be affordable. It is definitely a $53 hotel. The bed was comfortable and our nonsmoking room was clean but smelled like cigarettes when the bathroom fan was running. Breakfast was sub par. Coffee was cold. There was major remodeling going on no one warned us about even though I called the day before to verify the reservation. We were shocked to walk in and find all the lobby tiles ripped up. On a positive note, it is a great location - close to Walmart and the Ark Encounter. Two sit down restaurants are across the street and fortunately McDonald’s is a half block away so I was able to get good coffee. The staff was very helpful and nice. It’s a budget-friendly stay which is what I was after.

The staff were okay. The big surprise was that the lobby was being renovated. All the tile was off the floor and a guy was working when we came in. They did upgrade us to a suite and that was nice.
