This is a must stay destination. Chuck and Valda are the most gracious and friendly hosts you could ever hope to meet, and their property is straight out of a fairytale. Imagine being greeted with hugs, homemade ice cream and cookies. Then, as you get to your cabin, your breath is taken away at the beauty surrounding you. You are surrounded by trees, lush greenery and flowers, and a full flowing stream complimented with a walking bridge and rock formations that create numerous small waterfalls throughout. The sound of the stream eliminates the need for a sleep sound machine altogether. If you aren't envisioning the most relaxing and scenic setting of your dreams, then I'm not doing this setting justice. Then you step inside the cabin and bunk house, both of which are exactly as you would hope a Tennessee mountain retreat would be like. Inside you'll find everything you need perfectly situated and with thoughful detail, right down to the baby/pet gate. Anything you could possibly need is provided which reduces what you need to pack for your stay. Stepping out to the covered deck, you'll find a wonderful dining area, grill and wood burning stove for chilly nights. Chairs and a lounger are also provided, inviting long conversations. Next, you learn the history of this property which is nothing short of book worthy (to also be made into a movie). Chuck and Valda also have deep family histories that beg for biographies. In short, special place is shared by truly wonderful people.
Chuck and Valda are the best hosts you could ask for! They provided helpful clear directions, shared fun historical stories about the property, and have all of the local suggestions on what to check out. This area is full of great places and we can't wait to come back and explore more! The cabins are cute, cozy, and offer anything you could need, within the most peaceful beaitiful area.
The mountain location with a nearby creek was exceptional. The fresh air, starry skies, and true quiet was rejuvenating. We will also miss the ownerâs dog Robel; she was so sweet.
My friends and I went to the cabin and bunkhouse for a weekend in the woods and it was delightful. Valda and Chuck were very welcoming and had prepared treats for my friends and I for when we arrived late Friday night. The next day we got to meet them and got a tour and history lesson of the land, and later that night we enjoyed playing ping pong with Chuck and meeting Rebel, their very sweet dog. The land was calm and perfect for a weekend away from the chaos of school; we loved waking up and sitting on the back porch listening to the creek. All of my friends and I loved coming here and would love to come back again!
My daughter had always wanted to travel to see the leaves change, so I started searching for a place to stay. Right away, I was drawn to Chuck and Valdaâs place. The reviews were amazing! The more I read, the more I wanted to meet them. So, I booked the cabin and bunkhouse but then wanted to include more family. I asked Valda and she said she had another cabin on the same property called the Hideaway, but hurry! So I booked that one too and our trip was absolutely perfect!!! When I was little, we would travel several hours on a Friday night to see my grandparents. We couldnât wait to get there and it was always late, but they were waiting for us with the lights on and the beds were freshly made. We would hug and talk and laugh for a while before we fell into our warm cozy beds. Thatâs what it was like for us when we drove on Friday from Florida to Flag Pond. Chuck and Valda had the lights on. They met us just as we were pulling in and welcomed us and gave us big hugs. We talked and laughed..they showed us around and shared a little history. After they left, we jumped into our warm cozy freshly made beds!! They warmed our hearts and made us feel safe and like family! All the great reviews are true. Valda made delicious treats and had them waiting for us! The water from the tap is 100%pure and delicious from a well. The cabins and the bunkhouse were all amazing! We really enjoyed the leaves, the creek, fireplace and most of all meeting our precious hosts. May God bless you!!!
We had a great trip and our hosts definitely made the stay even better. We had everything we needed and the property was beautiful! If you want the cabin in the woods experience, this is it! You can leave your windows open and hear the running creek water. So peaceful! Plenty of places for our pups to enjoy around the property, including a great walking trail.
Our stay was absolutely perfect! Gorgeous location, beautiful cabin with so many thoughtful extras. Valda made us homade ice cream and cookies that were absolutely devine and Chuck was so kind and full of interesting lore! We were all sad to leave, but can't wait to come back! No one would regret booking!
We absolutely loved the beautiful property & adorable cabins. The host were so delightful, they had homemade cookies & strawberry ice cream waiting for us upon our arrival. Everything you need is there. We are hoping to return for another stay at some point.
Beautifully maintained property, full of beautiful wildflowers. Property sits on a historic buffalo trail, with host Chuck sharing its rich history with you directly! Close to Rocky Fork State Park, a gorgeous must-see! The details that Chuck & Valda put into their cabins for their guests & their stay here are numerous & thoughtful. My children and dog also enjoyed their time here. It was the perfect rest a couple of weary veterans neededâŠwe can hardly wait to come back!! Thank you!
Valda and Chuck were so accommodating to us. We will definitely stay again. Our pets were welcome, and all we needed was there among the beautiful scenery.
Chuck and Valda were incredible. My father in law had an accident when he arrived and they took over stabilizing him and offering to take him to the hospital if we were not able to get their quickly. Communication between us was fantastic throughout the leadup to and through our stay. The location is great, secluded but easy to get to. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and relaxing. We definitely plan to return and stay. Chuck and Valda were available to help with anything but not hovering. They both went above and beyond to make sure our stay was wonderful. 5 Stars!
Both cabins have a lot of cute details, it's noticeable the love the hosts put into, and also the communication with them is so easy. Beautiful property and wonderful people!!!
We spent two nights in Flag Pond to celebrate a birthday with friends. We had an amazing stay! The property is gorgeous and private, and we had everything we needed. Valda and Chick are delightful and we will definitely be back. Thank you!
This cabin, bunkhouse and adjacent cabin are perfect for a family and easily accommodates 10 people if renting both cabins. The view and sound of the creek is breath taking We were blown away. Chuck and Valda are the best hosts. Homemade cookies and ice cream were there when we arrived as were this precious couple who made sure check in went smoothly. We wanted to spend some time with them learning of the history of the property and area and they were willing to accommodate. This is such a special unique touch and made this trip so memorable. We will absolutely be back. Although you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere you are close to several small towns with delicious food and only 30 min from Johnson City. The hosts thought of everything you might need and provided plenty of info to make the trip perfect. So glad we ran across this listing. Fabulous !!
This is a really nice, relaxing spot on a peaceful, noisy creek with a lot of history! We enjoyed our quick stop here. You couldn't ask for better or more friendly hosts! You could tell they wanted their guests to enjoy their time here. We hope to come back soon! Thank you!
It's wonderful. The owners share the history of the area. It's peaceful. It's close to state parks. It has a great cabin next to the main for children or extra family. We loved it. Top stars.
We have stayed at several different properties in the area over the past few years, but this was our favorite and we cannot wait to come back again. Valda and Chuck have done an amazing job of creating a beautiful and relaxing retreat by the creek. The cabin we stayed in was well-updated and comfortable while maintaining the charm of this historic dwelling. The cabin had everything we needed for our stay, and they were thoughtful and generous with the amenities to make our time there easier and more comfortable.
When we arrived, Valda and Chuck greeted us personally and gave us the tour of the property along with the history there which was fascinating to me and added to our enjoyment of the area. When we were outside, we would often see them around the property and we appreciated them checking in with us to make sure we had everything we needed.
We enjoyed spending the evenings on the attached deck with the wood-burning stove while listening to the relaxing sounds of the adjacent creek. We often travel with our two dogs who were also welcomed and had a blast exploring the property.
We own some land several miles away, and intend to build and eventually move nearby in the future. Chuck and Valda were happy to talk with us about their experiences building this beautiful homestead and offer advice to us as we embark on a similar endeavor. Their kindness and the beauty of the property were powerful reminders of why we want to eventually relocate to this area.
We enjoyed our stay here and getting to meet and talk to the property owners! Valda & Chuck are wonderful hosts and provide great attention to detail! We enjoyed some hikes in the nearby area and evenings on the porch by fire listening to the creek!
We will definitely be back!
We really enjoyed our stay! The house was clean and the hosts were so nice and accommodating. We definitely plan on coming back for more outdoor time in the summer!
We vacation every winter in this general area and pick a new cabin each year to stay at. This cabin exceeded all expectations and will definitely be one we will stay at again. Chuck and Valda are the best host and make you feel right at home! Chuck taught us so much history about the property that we loved learning! The cabin and property are so beautiful, well kept, and the cabin is so warm and cozy! We loved celebrating Christmas at this beautiful cabin and property! Thank you for providing us with such a lovely place to spend our annual winter vacation.
A perfect place to get away from the daily stress of life! Breathe the fresh air, feel your blood pressure go down as you listen to the gurgling creek, and enjoy warmth and conversation by the outdoor fireplace. Chuck and Valda are excellent hosts who provide everything you need with a generous supply of extra "sweet treats"! Plan your great escape and, "Just Breathe"!
