Heceta Haven with a peek of the ocean.
Heceta Haven â A Family Cabin by the Sea
Heceta Haven isnât just a place to stay â itâs a place that has been lived in, loved, and added to slowly over the decades, the way a wellâworn family quilt grows softer and more meaningful with time. What began as a tiny oneâroom cabin in 1945 has gradually expanded into the cozy 1,200âsquareâfoot retreat it is today. You can still feel the spirit of that original cabin in the creak of the floorboards, the glow of the afternoon light, and the way the ocean breeze drifts up from the beach. Tucked at the very end of a quiet deadâend lane â one of the oldest in Heceta Beach â the house sits in a peaceful pocket of the neighborhood that feels wonderfully removed from the world. A short walk down a wooded trail brings you straight to the sand. Itâs the kind of path families remember long after the trip is over.
Inside, the openâbeamed ceilings welcome you with the easy familiarity of a place that has hosted generations of gatherings. The dining room and kitchen share one bright, inviting space where pancake breakfasts, rainyâday puzzles, and lateânight conversations have unfolded for decades. From the dining table, you can catch a glimpse of the ocean, a quiet reminder that the waves are always nearby. The small bar counter has long been a favorite spot for kidsâ crafts, coloring books, and snack breaks. The galley kitchen is compact but thoughtfully stocked with everything needed for family meals. Itâs simple, practical, and full of the kind of touches that make cooking together feel effortless. On either side of the main living area, youâll find two queen bedrooms and two cozy sitting rooms. Each sitting room includes a foldâflat sofa, offering extra sleeping space or a comfortable nook for reading. The master bedroom has its own bathroom with a showerâtub combo and a 32âinch Roku TV, blending modern comfort with the cabinâs timeless character.
Toward the back of the house, the family room opens up into a spacious, welcoming area. Overstuffed chairs, a rocking chair, a sofa, and a glider rocker create plenty of room for everyone to settle in. Thereâs a peek of the ocean from here as well, just enough to remind you that the beach is close. Step out onto the deck to listen to the surf or watch the sky turn gold at sunset.
Heceta Haven offers parking in both the front and back, making it easy to bring small trailers, ATVs, or a boat. Over the years, the home has been lovingly updated: new carpet in 2018, LVP flooring throughout the main areas, fresh interior and exterior paint, a new dining table in 2019, a remodeled master bath in 2020, a refreshed main bath in 2021, and new appliances added through 2023. Each improvement was made with care, preserving the cabinâs original charm while making it more comfortable for returning families. Itâs the kind of place where memories settle in quietly and stay with you long after youâve gone home.
We had an excellent time during our stay in Florence. The place was big enough to let us spread out after long days at the beach. It was also very private, which I personally appreciated immensely and the walk to the beach was 2 minutes. I would recommend a better a coffee maker.
The home was well stocked and generally clean. It is super private, on a dead end road. The beach access is way better than expected. Literally a minute walk right off the front porch, to a great spot. The septic was overflowing in the yard after just two children had a short shower and I did dishes. One of the back sheds is unlocked and absolutely disgusting inside. My children are outside, feral farm children... they found it and stayed away. But it could be a potential safety risk to someone else. This place has TONS of potential and easily accommodates 8 people. Affordable. Needs some tlc though.
This is a great little house. Clean, cozy and close to the beach. There is lots of room to spread out in the house and lots of things to explore in the Florence area. We greatly enjoyed our stay.
My daughter and I flew from Phoenix (118 degrees) to Eugene and drove to Florence. Beautiful cabin with lots of pines, and the home was spotless! Not far to the ocean, but it can be a little rough if youâre handicapped (no scooters or wheelchairs) The bedsheets were amazing! Got a great sleep each night! Host was very helpful when we called to say we were leaving, since we forgot the code we came in with đ
Easy beach access. Well stocked. Comfortable beds. We also used air mattresses and cots. We brought our extra bedding. Lots of towels. Nice washer and dryer.
My family and I spent four nights at this rental. It was well-designed and a great value- particularly considering its proximity to the beach. It was quiet, private, and perfect for a peaceful break from the real world. Lots of great features for a family with a dog. We'll probably return in future.
This is not the Ritz Carlton...it is a beach cabin with some rough edges. . At the same time, it is functional and clean and perfectly serviceable if you can live without pampering. We did not fix meals in the cabin, but simple meals would be possible. Wifi works well, tv has streaming options most of which mystified our group. If you pick this place, you will stay dry, sleep reasonably well, and not need a teatnus shop.
There were a few renovation projects unfinished, but everything in the main house was functional. There is a rotten old shack in the back yard and it's very creepy and gross. The door doesn't lock, so I peeked in, but I would never suggest that anyone set foot in there. Looks like it used to be a guest house.
Our family of 4 had a great time! We especially enjoyed the proximity to the beach. (Walk down a short trail and cross the street) The house is not the newest, but it was clean and had everything that we needed. There are a lot of fun options within a short driving distance to the house. (sand dunes, Haceta lighthouse, Sea Lion caves...) I would definitely recommend!
Close enough to town and easy to get to and from. The house had everything that we needed and we were close enough to get to and from activities that we were interested in doing.
I do "Not" recommend staying at the Heceta Haven. Home was Not clean!!! My daughter in-law woke up to a strangers earring stuck to her back (so gross and if that doesn't say; they didn't clean I don't know what does). Couch was sagging/ broke so we could not comfortably enjoy front room area. The screen was coming off of the screen door. Hole in carpet covered up by chair. Dirt and trash items (actual dirt, very old ear plug, bottle cap etc.) found beside furniture also showing place was not cleaned. There was a big WET stain on the carpet in master bedroom. Main bathroom smelled terrible and they have the audacity to charge a cleaning fee!! You only have a very small peekaboo view of the ocean from inside the house. They advertised a Babbling Brook so I was very excited for my grandson to have this to enjoy(he is unable to get to the beach so this was a very big deal. I wanted him to be able to have fun just like everyone else) but THERE IS NO BABBLING BROOK.. I informed management co. of all of these issues, she was aware of most of the problems. She is a very nice lady but only seem to offer excuses. What should have been a very special weekend for our family was definitely diminished by this home and management service.. I took pictures of above mentioned problems. Mrs Parsons
