This was a perfect house. Great location. Only a minute (2 houses) from the sand. House was clean and big enough for the family. Has a lift on the side of the garage that made carrying in groceries SO much easier. I just wish we would have known how to use it before carrying our bags up all the stairs (it's ok though, we needed the exercise)Really want to stay again next year!!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Baited hook! Check in was a breeze, the house was spotless, & the beds are super comfy. The kitchen is supplied with literally everything you need to cook meals at the house. The balconies were great as well! We loved being steps away from the beach & just a short walk to the sound!Would definitely recommend staying here to anyone looking!
The property was as advertised. It was clean and comfortable. It is very well provisioned, everything we needed in the kitchen was there and more. My wife had to work a couple of days while we were there and there was even a table in the closet that worked perfectly as a desk. The upper balcony is right off the living area and kitchen and has great views of the ocean and sound. There's a tiny mini-balcony on the other side of the living room if you want to focus more on the sound. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms were clean. We did wake one morning without water, but we called the realty company and had working water again in just over an hour.
Wonderful property, great experience, great memories, and if we decide to stay in the area again, we'll definitely see if this beach house is available.
Our family stayed at the Baited Hook in August 2021. When we arrived, we loved the proximity to the beach, and how it was situated on the island. There was some obvious wear and tear we noticed right away, like a barstool having broken spindles, a nonworking toaster, and some of the furniture and carpet having seen better days, but overall there was plenty of seating and room for us. However, during our stay, we not once had a working dryer. The knob was missing and a repairman came halfway through the week only to say he had to order a part and wasnât able to fix it. There was a wrench in the laundry room for us to manually spin the dial, which didnât work. One morning, the water stopped working. After talking to the rental office, we find out the water bill was unpaid and got shut off. The property management company ended up going to the office in person to get it paid and turned back on. Then, the air conditioning stopped working. It was 88 degrees in the house during the hottest part of the day. After communicating again with the office, they got someone out to come check out the AC. Even after they left and supposedly fixed it, the upstairs was never below 78 degrees even after sunset, so Iâm not sure if it was actually fixed it, but we checked out the next morning. None of that was as frustrating as when we called the rental office and let them know we werenât happy with our stay and they said they had fixed everything as quickly as they could and we should be thankful since we were staying on an island where it sometimes takes weeks for service. They offered no real apology or offer of any sort of refund. Considering what we paid, we were not satisfied with our stay and would not rent from this realty/property management company again.
I loved my week at the Baited Hook. Everything was just perfect. The check-in was fast. The house was spotless. Quick walk to the beach, and gorgeous views of both the ocean and the sound. Thank you!!!!
Relaxed area with great views and great beach access
We had a lovely time. Baited Hook is located as close as you can get to oceanfront without being oceanfront. We could see our group at the beach from the deck. So nice! The house is well maintained and roomy. Loved the extras like the extra refrigetator, sunset and sound viewing deck, beach viewing decks and plemtiful cooking supplies, eating supplies and activities. From VRBO listing says 2 baths and 2 half baths. This house has 3 baths and 1 half.
We arrived right after hurricane/tropical storm Isaias and the beach was different each day. Rough, calm, in between, full of shells, and at times some debris or sea grasses. There is a great sand bar near shore which was lovely. Dolphins were seen often.
Hatteras is close by for more adventures. Ocracoke ferry is close too. We loved our stay.
Being SO far down the shore preserves a lot of quaintness.
