Expanded over 9 acres, we have converted the old Garden Valley High School, Middle School, and Elementary school into a one of a kind location for all of your family memories. Your Idaho family reunion location and corporate retreat facility. It is the perfect location for large family reunions, church retreats, weddings, and large events. We have a fully functioning lodge with an awesome kitchen, full size basketball court, bounce houses, rock climbing wall, fishing pond, and game room for your enjoyment. Our facility sleeps over 80 people in beds and has a full commercial kitchen set up for big families.

Located only 50 minutes from the edges of Eagle Idaho, there is no other places that can accommodate large groups, be within an hours drive of Boise, and still get the mountainous feel like River Canyon Retreat. To sum it all up we are your perfect Idaho family reunion location.

Garden Valley, the gateway to an authentic Central Idaho Mountains adventure. Garden Valley is surrounded in all directions by mountain peaks, some over 7,000 feet. Two river systems carve valleys covered in the lush green of summer growth along with wildlife, stock and horses. In 1934 a new post office established the identity of Crouch, now one of the commercial districts for Garden Valley. The town was named after Billy Crouch, a miner who homesteaded near the confluence of the Middle and South Fork Rivers. In the 1920s, Crouch donated property for a new community hall in Garden Valley.

Great spot for a big group

We had a wonderful stay with our group of 55, extended family ages 0-75. The kitchen area was great to cook in, the dining area fit everyone easily, the rooms were nice, the bathrooms updated and clean, and the gym and the pool were so fun for all the kids. Thanks for providing a place we could comfortably be together!

Garden River Retreat - An amazing Family Get Away!

Garden River Retreat was the perfect reunion space for our family of 68 members. We had our children, grand-children, and great-grand-children all there and there were multiple activities enjoyed by all ages. We the full size gymnasium for many activities including, bounce houses, volleyball, basketball, wall climbing, talent show and a dance. The kitchen and dining were more than adequate to accomodate our large family and met with approval from our chef son. Greg and Cheryl, the hosts, were very attentive and helped with any needs we had. We felt like they were old friends. We are hoping to come back again. We all loved it!!

Large family friendly

We spent five days at this wonderful property with 35 family members ages 6 to 71. The gathering areas (kitchen, living room, dining area, pantry) was perfect! The kitchen was phenomenal. The gym was the best feature. Any time we were at the facility, kids and adults were there at the climbing wall, playing basketball or playing 9 square. The stage was perfect for our talent show. For those who needed quiet time, the bedrooms were private. The swimming pool was enjoyed on hot afternoons. Trails, hot springs, Starlight Theatre were all close by. We floated down the shallow river in nearby Crouch which was a hit. The on-site managers, Cheryl and Greg, were amazing! They checked in with us every day and responded to our needs promptly

Excellent experience!

The amenities were amazing! Never a dull moment with our group of 70. Loved the rock climbing, volleyball, basketball, frisbee golf, horseshoe’s, pool, 9 square, etc. Great place, excellent managers!

Parent's 60th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

My family of 36 stayed here to celebrate our parents and their 60 yrs of marriage! We had a great time. A few things had issues, like hot water in the kitchen, paper towel rolls empty, hot tub needed cleaned, etc. but Brandon was on it as soon as I mentioned it. Everything was great. If we had the other 30+ family members show up, there would have been plenty of room still. Gym was utilized to it's fullest and so was the kitchen and dining area.

Family Reunion

Property managers were friendly and very responsive to our needs. The physical facilities were excellent. The kitchen and dining areas were super. The great room was large and comfortable. The lawns were extensive and well cared for. The gym with its variety of activities was outstanding. The large number of bathrooms and different configurations of bedrooms was more than adequate for a large group (we had 47, including 5 recently married couples, 6 middle aged couples, grandpa & grandma, and a variety of young single adults, teenagers, children, and one infant). What would make it a perfect location for large family reunions would be bedding for all of the beds and better wifi service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come again.

Great family get away. Plenty of room and lots of things to keep you busy or you can just relax!

We had a wonderful weekend with our large family! We enjoyed the kitchen and having a lot of dining, gathering, activity and sleeping space! The only things that kept it from being a perfect experience was the late check-in 4:00 and having to spend the last morning cleaning both buildings up instead of being able to enjoy the morning with our family. We would rent it again, great on site managers! Thank you for a great weekend!

Great great place, minor complaints

Brandon is a sweetheart and everything went very smoothly. We had 62 people and the littles loved the bounce houses and swimming. The adults loved having so much for the kids to do and the restaurant quality kitchen. The only reason I knocked off a star is the game room (which we were REALLY depending on for the teenage crowd) was in bad shape. We confronted him and he was very kind and said it gets destroyed by renters. I understand, but the room could’ve been fixed for less than a hundred bucks. There were four broken fooseball guys all of the same color so no one could play it, those can be replaced on amazon for 30 bucks. None of the pool poles had tips, also a cheap fix. And the ping pong paddles and balls were so poor it also couldn’t be played properly. He did come in and do patch jobs on what he could, but it would make a big difference if he made sure the game room was in good shape between each renter and keep those supplies in bulk. He could even keep some of the security deposit from crowds who break things. One last suggestion would be to have a few high chairs. There is an incredible kitchen and dining room and no high chairs. It would’ve just taken it to the next level if there were. Other than that, it was perfect and we were disappointed that this place is already booked for next year when we would need it again.

A wonderful time together as family!

We had a total of 49 people for our reunion. It was great that everyone had a bed with plenty of space. We really enjoyed the large dining area where we could all gather together for meals and use several tables to have puzzles going at the same time. The large industrial kitchen made meal prep for such a large group as easy as possible. The staff were very helpful! The only reason I didn't give our stay a five star was because a wild fire burned down electric posts so we had 24 hours without power. Since the system is well and septic this also meant no water and bathrooms for those 24 hours. However, the staff made arrangements for us to use a nearby Chevron for bathroom needs and provided as much bottled water as we needed at no extra cost. They checked in with us multiple times to see if they could help with any needs that might arise during the power outage. During the outage, a group of us went to the river to cool off and had a great time there for a couple of hours. Others stayed back and hung out in the pool. The kids loved the fishing pond and everyone enjoyed the elk that frequent the property in the late evenings.The climbing wall was a huge hit and we really enjoyed the game 9 High-in-the-Sky that was provided by the facility. It was a game that all ages could participate in and have fun. While 9 people play at a time, it is a quick rotation, fast moving game so standing in a line of 10 people to wait your turn to play didn't take long. I highly recommend this place.

If you have a big group, stop looking and start booking!

We stayed here for our family reunion. We had 44 people and it was amazing. Usually for family reunions we plan lots of activities so that we don't end up just sitting around staring at each other. This time we didn't get to several of our planned activities because there was so much to do at the River Canyon Retreat. The owners are super chill and easy to work with. We never felt cramped everyone had a great time. This place has plenty of pros and very few cons. And, for the most part, the cons are out of the owners control. For example, my brother-in-law cheats at cornhole, my sister cheats at pinochle, and my mother doesn't put enough pepper in the eggs. Overall though, absolutely a fantastic place for large groups. Young and old alike had a great time. Highly recommended.

Amazing Retreat Center!

We stayed here over President's Day weekend for our church Youth Group winter retreat. The facility is amazing! We had a little over 30 people and had plenty of room. The "Lodge" itself is an terrific space and has several bedrooms with different bed configurations as well as a huge living room space! The kitchen is simply unbelievable in what it has to offer. All the appliances are industrial so it made for great food prep and easy clean up. The dining space is also great - lots of room for a huge group! The Gym and accompanying bedrooms over there is fantastic. We really enjoyed having the gym to play games in and our kids loved having bounce houses/obsticle courses to burn off energy in and also had a great time trying the climbing wall. The bunk rooms were awesome and with the 2 other bedrooms across from them, it made it easy to have chaperones nearby. Bathrooms and showers were great and the game room out there was thoroughly used and enjoyed as well! The area of Garden Valley is an absolutely gorgeous backdrop to this venue. While we were there, the weather was a bit yucky so we didn't explore too much outside, but there are many adventures to be had there, as well, I'm sure! The owners are friendly and very accommodating! We will definitely be back here in the future! Thanks again for such an amazing and meaningful weekend!

Beautiful place for a family reunion

We had about 45 people there for our family reunion, but there was certainly room for many more. It had a well-equipped kitchen with a walk-in refrigerator and walk-in freezer. The rooms were wonderful with lots of comfortable beds. It is handicap accessible. The gym was probably my husband's favorite part - full basketball court. The owners remodeled this from an old school and went above and beyond and it is beautiful. They kept as much of the old school character as they could and did an amazing job. They are very accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay as fun and comfortable as they could. It has been several days since the reunion and our kids, nieces and nephews, etc. haven't stopped talking about how fun it was. Great place for kids with the bounce house and a huge gym to play in. Overall, I would give them an A+++++++.

We had our Women's Retreat here. Perfect setting. All of the accommodations were great. The kitchen is professionally done and easy to work in. The meeting room was comfortable. The beds were well above the norm. The manager was very pleasant and easy to work with. This is a wonderful place to go, get away, relax and regenerate. We will definitely chose River Canyon again.
