Ok, the views were amazing. The pool was awesome. The kitchen appliances were terrific. And the bedrooms all faced the water and had en-suite facilities. We were comfortable. But, the listing was not accurate and the communication was not great. There is no working grill (rusted, crusted and hasn't been used in years), the whirlpool was not operational (host said it was because of insurance prohibitions due the 10 and 13 year old children (if true, should have been informed at the time of reservation), there was a private vehicle parked RIGHT in front of the entrance for the first 5 days, the garbage bins were already full leaving us nowhere to hold our garbage until Wednesday. Bottom line, the listing was misleading and the communication/attention was not very good.
The pictures donât do this house justice. It has such a beautiful view and spacious backyard pool area for sunsets and coffee. The house had everything we needed and The host was very easy to communicate with. I would definitely stay here again!
I have rented many vacation properties over the years. Unfortunately, this was the worst thus far. The pictures on the listing looked wonderful and inviting. I walked into the actual house and I was truly disappointed.
Here is the bad:
*Candy, the property owner was hard to make contact with. She is in the UK so the time difference was a hindrance. Many days went by without a response.
*Justin the property manager was good but we really never needed him. He did pick up groceries prior to our arrival but with the language barrier there were items missing. We ended up taking a taxi to get groceries the next day.
*There was no one to clean the pool during our stay until the day before we left. We cleaned it ourselves.
*The infinity pool does not work.
The grill was disgusting and unusable.
*There aren't enough utensils if you have more than 6 people. The teapot had water still in the pot and was rusty on the inside. *The table was not cleaned as there was jelly stuff left behind. *The kitchen stools are rusty and torn. *You must bring adapters to use the electrical outlets. *There is no Guest Book with details of the property or surrounding area. *There was no explanation of how things worked...the stove is gas and wouldn't stay lit. *There were no matches upon our arrival.
Here is the Good;
The View, the View, the View !!!
The driver, who is Justin's cousin was wonderful.
I recommend a full day tour of the island with many stops along the way with Hyginus
The house is beautiful with stunning views of the Caribbean blue sea and reasonably well maintained. The pool person came twice during our ten day holiday to keep the pool clean as well as the jacuzzi. The caretaker of the house Justin was always available for any questions we had and always very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. He brought us coconuts, mangos as well as a pineapple from his garden and was super helpful.
The wifi worked great in most parts of the house and garden though there were some black spots within the house where it did not reach, like the double bedroom downstairs.
The beach at Calabash Cove is small but perfect and just a 5 minute walk, the restaurant at the resort is also well worth a visit. There is a small supermarket for essentials about 15- 20 minute walk up and down a hill in case you don't have a car. Taxis are also a great way of getting around the island.
Our only gripe would be the next door neighbour's cockerel who started crowing at 4:10 every morning before the sun was even up and continued crowing for most of the morning, a joy for some!
Beautiful location, clean property, staff excellent. Few minor issues in kitchen, oven not heating up and very ill equipped but overall a good holiday home with stunning views and the stunning calabash cove 5 star amenities a few minutes away where we had breakfast and lunch most days
Thank you for our stay
Communication from owner is excellent. Makes every effort to make sure you sure you are happy. Best owner we have ever had. Staff was extremely helpful.
