Wailua Riverside Cottage, a perfect place to experience the real Kauai in a residential setting with peek views of the Wailua River and located a block from Wailua Beach made famous by Elvis Presley starring in the movie Blue Hawaii when he and his New Bride rode horses on Wailua Beach!

Wailua Riverside is a tree top cottage, furnished Hawaiiana style, fully equipped kitchen, one bedroom with a memory foam queen bed, sitting room with a full size sofa sleeper; as well as, a covered lanai offering outdoor dining. Wailua Beach is a block away and the sound of ocean waves hitting the beach will lull you to sleep each night. From your bed or lanai, watch as breathtakingly beautiful pink skies form through swaying coconut trees at sunrise.

All fully equipped, you can take them right off the dock just steps from the Hideaway. *Value: $80-$100 per couple. Note: A double kayak was purchased, a orange yellow Lifetime Spitfire Tandem Kayak.

Amenities: Netflix and Prime Apps, coffee maker, linens, washer / dryer, gas BBQ grill, beach gear including snorkels, fins, beach chairs, coolers, beach towels. An added bonus is air conditioning both in the living room and the bedroom, making a vacation in the warmer months more enjoyable.

Located at the Sacred Wailua River, where only the ancient Hawaiian Royalty were allowed to visit, Wailua Riverside is a two minute walk to an awesome eight-mile shoreline of uncrowded, sandy beaches. You are steps from a dock where you can launch your own kayak unto the Wailua River to explore and find the trail to Secret Waterfalls, one the top 10 things to do on Kauai. Water skiing, Wakeboarding, and Speed Boating are also available from the same dock.

Within a mile you will find: Wailua Beach, Ancient Hawaiian ruins; a Hawaiian village; Opaeka’a Falls; Lydgate Park offering protected ocean swimming, a 2.2 mile jogging trail and Smith’s Tropical Paradise offering one of the best island Luau’s. Grocery stores, souvenir shops and most of the island’s restaurants are available within a 3 mile radius. Further up the road is Kauai’s Hindu Monastery, an incredible place, set in an absolutely idyllic environment next to the Wailua River and a stupendous waterfall, a must see!

The airport is 6 miles away, the nearest town is Kapaa just one mile away and the road does not go all around the island which makes this property ideal. You can drive north or south and return to a location central to the island.

The kitchenette served all our needs for a week’s stay, laundry was easy, Candace was gracious and accommodating to our needs and requests. We loved our stay at her place. We were out on the river daily, and we felt private although the town is so close. Thank you Candace

This was a very nice place to stay for our visit. The accommodations were great, including a comfortable bed and good wifi. Located on a quiet, dead end street at the riverside, we were able to park immediately below the cottage. The use of a kayak was a treat, as we were able to get to the “secret” falls. The property is centrally located on the island, with nearby shops, restaurants and beaches. Be sure to bring soap and shampoo for the shower.

Great home base for island adventure

Great centralized location to easily access the whole island. The apartment was so cute and was clean and homey. Loved the use of the kayaks to float the river.

What attracted me to this property was the Kayaks. None of the other proposed bookings showed that. There were two single and one tandem. We went out with the tandem kayak and my wife a I had a blast. Went up to the Fern Grotto and had a nice picnic. Then we went looking for the Hawaiian Village. We never found it but met a nice couple who urged us to go to Secret Falls. Even though we only had flip flops, we slowly made our way to the falls and it was well worth it.The kitchen was well stocked was the hideaway was very roomy. We used the Lanai for all out meals which was very refreshing.The hideaway was centrally located on the island which was very nice. One day we went south to Waimea and on another we trekked north to the beaches.The Wailua Riverside Cottage was very roomy and had kayaks. I would highly recommend is property.

The host was very welcoming and very helpful. My husband needed a blanket and Candice laundered one for us. The location was perfect. Kayaks were provided so we used them on the Wailua River which is right by the cottage. There was a washer and dryer available for our use as well. There was a new refridgerator and stove plus a Kuerig and a drip coffeepot with filters. Pots and pans and dishware were provided. The airport is 6 miles away and a grocery store is less then 2 miles. It is the perfect place.

Loveable Lodging

This little hideaway sports a feel that makes you want to return. Sure it is a rental that has everything you need and is in a great location but what makes it memorable is it's soul. Books,tasteful decor, good lighting....really a fine place to stay.

Great Kauai Getaway!

Wilua Riverside Hideaway

We had a wonderful stay next to the Wailua River! The Riverside hideaway had everything available for a perfect beach day or a paddle down the river. Enjoyed being in a residential area and really leaning into the rhythm of the Island. We will definitely stay here again!

Private and Perfect

Candace’s VRBO is exceptional. Quietly away from the bustle of a resort, but right on the river and close to all that Kapa’a has to offer. And Kapa’a is exceptional too, with lots to do locally and all of Kauai close whether you head north or south.

Great Location!

The bungalow was in a great location and a perfect spot to have as a home base to explore the island. Air conditioning after a long day in the sun was such an added bonus. They had all the amenities for the beach and river. Highly recommend!!!

Peaceful River Cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this River Cottage! The check in process was effortless and the cottage was clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed using the Kayaks and paddling to the Fern Grotto & Secret Falls. We loved cooking at the cottage and watching the sunset in the evenings. The neighbors were friendly and we would love to visit again.

A little slice of paradise

This was our first trip to Kauai, and though we originally booked a spot down south, we're so glad we made the switch to the more centrally located Coconut Coast. Staying by the river was a dream—kayaks at our fingertips and friendly neighbors on the dock each evening as the sun dipped below the horizon. This treetop cottage is a hidden gem—an incredible value for the price. It’s just minutes from the beach and freeway, yet it feels like a peaceful retreat tucked away in the trees. The lanai became our little sanctuary. Candace was wonderfully welcoming and quick to respond to any questions. We had an amazing time exploring Kapa'a and both ends of the island. We'll definitely be back!

Blissful Stay on Royal Land

My husband and I stayed at the cottage for almost two weeks. It was absolutely perfect, all we needed to be comfortable, rested and supported during the vacation. We were delighted to have use of the kayaks, easy access to the river via the dock, beach chairs and snorkeling gear. The cottage is very clean and well appointed. The back patio is a big plus for early morning coffee sipping and listening to the birds. We would most certainly come back and stay at the cottage again, especially if we get to meet Candace again. She is lovely and spent some time giving us some history of the area. An incredibly lovely experience and I thank her for offering this cottage for rental! If I could give more than 5 stars I certainly would!

Better than expected

The place is in a peaceful, quiet, residential neighborhood right on the river and close to the beach. The paddle boards and kayaks were a lot of fun, and my husband loved the laid-back feel of the cottage and all the real wood. It was nicer than we expected. Candace was very sweet and helpful. We hope to stay here again.

Romantic River Retreat

We loved everything about this property! Worth every penny for the water toys available to take the trip to secret falls. It was a great central location to explore the islands. We cooked all our dinners in the kitchen and loved having Kona coffee and breakfast on the rooftop deck with sunrise. No problems with check in or check out. My husband is a custom home builder/historic preservation contractor and we loved the cottage charm and furnishings. Mahalo Nui!
