How close is The Majestic Cedar to downtown Kasauli?
The views from our duplex were great and the room itself was fairly cozy for our family of 4 adults and 2 kids. However, the staff behaved unprofessionally from the get go. For instance, once we got there, the person at the reception tells me I have a booking with code EP3 and asked me to explain what it was. I was a little flustered and mentioned how I just booked through Expedia and shouldn't they know the internal codes. He somehow makes it sound like I made some error and need to explain myself. Later in the night they call to offer snacks, and when we ask whether this was complimentary, they respond bluntly with, "nothing is complimentary here".
The room, while offering good views, was a little smelly. There was also no heating and when we asked, they just gave us a space heater. When I asked for extra bathroom slippers, they told me they only provide the one already in the room. This is a 4 person room so I don't understand why they would make a fuss over something that costs a couple dollars at the most. There was no turndown service and when we asked they tell us we are supposed to request it, again making it sound like we're some dumb travelers. But as a seasoned traveler, I know this is not how things work globally or even within India. Overall, good views and room layout doesn't make up for all the shortcomings.
