Perfect couples and large enough for families and groups of friends, Herdwick lodge provides high quality comfortable accommodation for your self catering holiday or short break. The above deck private hot tub provides the perfect elevation from which to enjoy unrivalled views of the How Gills and Wild Boar fells beyond.
The lodge is beautiful and has everything you could possibly need.
The area is lovely and close to Kendal (about 16 miles).
The inside of the lodge is decorated lovely and well laid out, and the beds were super comfy.
The hot tub is under a covered deck area so could be used while raining which was a huge plus.
The property is pet friendly but if you have dogs like ours that tend to wander off then it is worth noting that there are no areas fenced off. For us this was not ideal.
The only other thing to note is that the property above ours (we stayed in Herdwick) overlooks the lodge and the hot tub. So if you like privacy then this is something to note.
Overall a lovely property and lovely area.
Very well maintained lodge on a small site of 6 in rural location. Wide range of kitchen equipment and the supplied essentials were really useful. Overall a great place to stay.
The Herdwick lodge was lovely, spacious and cozy. There were plenty of kitchen supplies for 6 people to cook, though I would suggest bringing additional bin bags as we only had one. The hot tub and fireplace were straightforward to use. The showers did run out of hot water if 6 people showered consecutively but it replenished in about an hour so it was not an issue at all! The bathrooms were clean and well stocked with towels, small toiletries and toilet paper. The bedrooms were cute and the beds were super comfortable. There was a lovely view of the sheep and hills - I would definitely recommend the lodge!
